1. On July 3rd, 2024, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area of 71st Street and Park Avenue after receiving a report of an assault. During their on-scene investigation, officers arrested 64- year-old Alejandro Caicedo of Guttenberg, NJ, for terroristic threats [2C:12-3A] after watching a recorded video of Mr. Caicedo threatening to shoot the victim. Mr. Caicedo was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Caicedo was issued his complaint summons and released from police custody.
2. On July 5th, 2024, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division observed two males in a physical altercation near the intersection of 70th Street and Bergenline Avenue. During their on-scene investigation, officers arrested 22-year-old Sergio Ajpop-Sanchez of Fairview, NJ, for simple assault [2C:12-1A(1)]. Officers also arrested 27- year-old Hugo Ajpop-Sanchez of Guttenberg, NJ, for obstructing the administration of law [2C:29-1A] after he began to interfere with arrest of Mr. Sergio Ajpop-Sanchez. At that time, Officers discovered that Mr. Hugo Ajpop-Sanchez was also in possession of a small baggie, containing a white powdery substance, believed to be cocaine. Mr. Hugo AjpopSanchez was also charged with the possession of a controlled dangerous substance [2C:35-10A(1)] and failure to make lawful disposition [2C:35-10C]. Both defendants were then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for their arrest processing. Upon the completion of their arrest processing, both defendants were issued their complaint summons and released from police custody.
3. On July 5th, 2024, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division located and arrested 18-year-old Miguel A. Palma of Guttenberg, NJ, who was wanted for an active warrant regarding a theft investigation. During their on-scene investigation, Mr. Palma attempted to provide officers with a fake name to avoid apprehension, with no success. Officers also discovered that Mr. Palma was in possession of a loaded firearm and prescription legend drugs not prescribed to him. Mr. Palma was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department, where he processed on the active warrant and also charged with the unlawful possession of a weapon [2C:39-5B(1)], possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose [2C:39-4A(1)], the possession of a firearm by a minor (under 21 years of age) [2C:58-6.1B], possession of a controlled dangerous substance [2C:35-10A(1)], possession of prescription legend drugs [2C:35-10.5E(1)], and hindering his own apprehension [2C:29-3B]. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Palma was issued both of his complaint warrants and lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.
4. On July 6th, 2024, 54-year-old Edward Garcia of Guttenberg, NJ, walked into the Guttenberg Police Department and informed our communications officer that he was going to shoot one of our officers if he saw said officer following him again. At the time, two of our patrol officers were engaged in a “park and walk” on Park Avenue, which is aimed to uncover quality of life issues and foster a better relationship with the residents within our community. Mr. Garcia then left our police headquarters following his statement. Later, Mr. Garcia was arrested and charged with terroristic threats [2C:12-3B] and Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer [2C:12-1B(5)(A)]. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Garcia was issued his complaint warrant and lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.
5. On July 6th, 2024, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 54-year-old Armando Estupinan-Lopez of Guttenberg, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. Mr. EstupinanLopez was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, he was issued numerous summonses for traffic violations and then released into the custody of a responsible adult.
6. On July 7th, 2024, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the Pizza Hut, located at the intersection of 70th Street and Bergenline Avenue after receiving a report of a male who broke the establishments window. During their investigation, officers arrested 33-year-old William Rodas of North Bergen, NJ, for criminal mischief [2C:17-3A(1)]. Mr. Rodas was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Rodas was issued his complaint summons and released from police custody.
7. On July 7th, 2024, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 45-year-old Selvin A. Fernandez of Union City, NJ, after discovering that he had an active warrant, issued by the West New York Municipal Court. Mr. Fernandez was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Fernandez was then transported and released to the custody of the West New York Police Department.
