Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

The Library has reopened and returned to their normal schedule.

Congratulations to Kay Considine and Zoe Han who were named as North Jersey Girls Tennis players of the year. They have become the first Girls doubles team to win the State Doubles tournament in the history of Tenafly High School.

This Saturday and Sunday is the last chance to enjoy a relaxing sailing trip on the Hudson River aboard the historic schooner AJ Meerwald, New Jersey’s official Tall Ship with the Nature Center. Departing from the Alpine Boat Basin, each themed sail will let participants experience the beauty of the river while enjoying New Jersey’s history, art, music, and, of course, nature!

Also this weekend at the Nature Center families can enjoy a chance to feed butterflies. Spend time in our Butterfly House enjoying up close opportunities in a small group setting. On Sunday, families with children are welcome to learn more about the Forest School and spend time in our outdoor classroom space! Enjoy the mud kitchen creating cakes, potions, and other dirt delights. Staff will help facilitate experiences and answer program questions. Register for all this at tenaflynaturecenter.org.

Beginning this weekend July 13th and 14th, and then the 20th and 21st, experience the fascinating world of aerodynamics and propulsion with the Tenafly Rocket Pioneers. For those ages 7 to 13, you can take part in this free, hands on bottle rocket experience hosted by local High School students. To learn more and sign up, email Ben at: bedreyer2006@gmail.com

This coming Tuesday, July 16, the Summer Concert Series at Huyler Park continues at 7:00 PM with the summertime reggae beats of Anthem. In case of rain the concert will be relocated to the High School auditorium located at 19 Columbus Drive.

School Referendum: $16.5 Million in State Aid: The Tenafly Public Schools Board of Education unanimously voted to put a $76 million proposal on a special September 17 ballot. That formal step came after the state committed to contribute $16.5 million towards those costs. After that state aid is factored in, the local property tax impact is estimated at about $881 per year for 20 years for a home assessed at Tenafly’s average. Tenafly Senior Citizens: Please join in at the Senior Center on Wednesday, July 17 at 3 pm for a referendum presentation, including an opportunity to ask questions.

Monday, August 5, at Montammy Golf Club is Play Fore!, the Kids Golf and Tennis Classic. This important fundraiser includes a fun day of Men’s and Women’s Golf, Tennis, Pickleball, and Mahjong or Canasta and helps support programming and services for children at the JCC. Visit the new exhibit, "Resonance" at the Korean Community Center Gallery. Featuring emerging Korean artists who explore the deep connections between interacting energies, the push and pull of forces in equilibrium, and how the harmonious blend of different frequencies resonates. Running July 3 to 30th.

Maker's Night, enjoy arts and crafts hands on fun! Wednesday, July 24, 6 to 8 PM, ages 4 years to 6th grade, must be accompanied by an adult. Wonderful social event with dinner included. Free of charge, donations welcome. At the Presbyterian Church. Register by July 21 to 201-567-0111.
