Belle Mead Man Charged With Theft By Deception

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 44-year-old SANG PARK of Belle Mead, NJ on charges of theft by deception. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck.

In December 2023, the Ridgefield Park Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit regarding an allegation of employee embezzlement at a company based in Ridgefield Park, NJ. Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit initiated an investigation into the alleged activity. The comprehensive investigation revealed that SANG PARK manipulated his payroll and employee reimbursement from 2018 through 2022. It further revealed that PARK embezzled over $1.2 million in company funds using various internal payroll and expense systems.

As a result of the investigation, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, SANG PARK was arrested at his residence in Belle Mead, NJ by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office along with assistance from the Montgomery Township Police Department. PARK was charged with two counts of second-degree theft by deception, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-4a. PARK was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first court appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella thanks the Ridgefield Park Police Department and the Montgomery Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
