1. On July 25, 2024, at approximately 12:40 a.m., Police Officers Nicholas Losurdo and Andrias Bonilla were -in the area of the 900 block of Garden Street when they observed a man acting suspiciously while standing in front of a mailbox. When they circled back around the area, the man was gone, but they found a thin black belt wrapped with black electrical tape and sticky residue on it inserted into the mailbox. This is how “mail phishing” is done, which is a tactic to steal mail out of mailboxes. The officers searched the area for the actor they’d observed earlier and found him lying underneath a parked car on the 800 block of Garden Street. The man, later identified as 22-year-old Wili Peguero of New York, was arrested. Officers noticed he was not wearing a belt and was struggling to walk due to his pants falling. Sgt. Adam Colon and Police Officers David Chicara, Anthony Ingraffia, and Joshua Campoverde arrived on the scene. Peguero was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, theft, and possession of burglary tools. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
2. On July 26, 2024, at approximately 6:10 a.m., Police Officers Anthony Ingraffia and Joshua Campoverde were on patrol on the 300 block of Marshall Drive when they saw a man they knew was 26-year-old Kevin Nguyen of Hoboken. He was walking on Hoboken Housing Authority property, where he is not a resident. They approached him and it was learned he had an open warrant for his arrest out of Newark for theft. Police Officers Nicholas Losurdo and Andreas Bonilla arrived on the scene. Nguyen was placed under arrest and a search located a small glass cylindrical pipe with burnt ends and a metal push rod, commonly used to ingest crack cocaine. Police Officer Alexander Miller arrived on the scene. Nguyen was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and processed before he was transported to the Hudson County Correction Facility.
3. On July 26, 2024, at approximately 10:45 a.m., Police Officers Frank Francolino and Michael Aviles responded to the 500 block of Marshall Drive on reports of a loud argument. An on-scene investigation revealed that 33-year-old Raymond Turner of Hoboken had gotten into a verbal argument with his teenaged child in their apartment, but both had since left. Officers located Turner outside the building, where he was irate and yelled at the officers and his daughter. At one point, he pushed past officers to charge towards his daughter. He ignored the officers' commands to calm down and charged toward them again. Turner was then arrested for obstructing the administration of the law. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where it was discovered Turner had an outstanding warrant. He was released with a summons and a new court date.
4. On July 26, 2024, at approximately 11 a.m., Police Officers Jason Montalvo and Jonathan Figueroa responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting where the actor was detained by store security. An on-scene investigation revealed the actor, later identified as 72-year-old Deborah Hetzel of West New York, was seen attempting to leave the store with approximately $283 worth of items she did not pay for. She was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where she was charged with shoplifting. She was released with a summons.
5. On July 27, 2024, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Police Officer Harold Milne responded to Eco Convenience store, 249 11th St., on reports of a shoplifting. By the time he arrived, the actor had left the store, but he saw a woman he knew as 55-year-old Ivecka Leonard of North Arlington right outside with a bag of peanut M&M’s, which is what store employees reported the shoplifter had taken. Police Officers Kyle Seper, Nicklas Valerius, and Nicholas Protopapadakis stopped Leonard near the corner of 11th and Garden Streets. A check for wants and warrants revealed an open warrant out of Hoboken for urinating in public. She was released on the scene with a summons and a new court date.
6. On July 28, 2024, at approximately 2:15 a.m., Police Officers Anthony Ingraffia and Shyenna Vega responded to PNC Bank, 111 River St., on reports of a non-domicile male sleeping in the vestibule. They woke up the man, identified as 24-year-old Tyrese Buckhanon of Hoboken, and issued him a summons for defiant trespassing. He was informed he cannot sleep in vestibules of businesses or residential buildings, corridors, or other areas where individuals are not permitted to sleep. He was released on the scene with the summons.
7. On July 29, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Police Officers Anthony Azzoline and Kyle Seper were approached by a bystander who told them two people were actively fighting near the intersection of Newark and Washington Streets. They, along with Sgt. Michael Straten and Police Officers Aidan Gonzalez, Anish Bhisey, and Jonathan Figueroa responded. Upon arrival, officers saw the two men arguing. An on-scene investigation revealed one of the men, later identified as 68-year-old Samuel Lopez of Hoboken, got into an argument after he accused the other man of almost hitting him with an e-bike. During the argument, Lopez pulled a knife on the other man. Lopez was arrested and officers located the knife. A search of his bag revealed a small silver handgun, and five gold .22 short rim fire rounds. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon for the gun and knife, two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose for the gun and knife, and making terroristic threats. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
8. On July 29, 2024, at approximately 4:55 p.m., Police Officers John Rodriguez and Shelby Seickendick responded to the 400 block of Washington Street on reports of an accident between a motor vehicle and an e-bike. An on-scene investigation revealed that the e-bike rider, later identified as 24-year-old Yusuf Erdem of Jersey City, demanded money from people he falsely claimed hit his e-bike with a U-Haul truck. When the victims didn’t agree to give him money, Erdem climbed into the truck, picked up an end table as if to take it as repercussion. He eventually dropped the table. He was arrested for burglary and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was released with a summons.
9. On July 30, 2024, at approximately 9 a.m., Sgt. Jason Falco and Police Officer Frank Lombardo responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting where the actor was detained by loss prevention officers. Store security told officers the actor, identified as Diana Silencieux, was seen placing products worth approximately $326.62, into her cart, before walking out without paying. She was stopped by security officers just outside the store. Silenciuex was placed under arrest for shoplifting. A search incident to arrest located a glass cylindrical pipe with burn marks on one end and a small, thin piece of metal, both of which are commonly used to ingest CDS crack cocaine. She was further charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. She was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
10. On July 30, 2024, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Sgt. Tyler Soto and Police Officers Jairo De La Cruz, Valentino Salgado and Zackary Guido, responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting where the actor was detained by loss prevention. The actor, identified as 61-year-old Alcira Mojica of Hoboken, was seen by store security placing multiple items, worth approximately $45.44, into her bag and then walk past registers without paying. She was stopped by store security outside. She was charged with shoplifting and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing. Mojica had three warrants out of Union City. She was given new court dates on those warrants and released with a summons for the shoplifting charge in Hoboken.
11. On July 31, 2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Police Officers Nasir Willey and Andrias Bonilla were on routine patrol near the 100 block of Sinatra Drive when they saw 31-year-old Glenn Harris of Williamsburg, NY and knew he had an open warrant out of Hoboken. They stopped him and the warrant for criminal mischief was confirmed. Sgt. Adam Colon arrived on the scene. Harris was placed under arrest and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. Harris had another warrant out of the Hudson County Sheriff's Department for stalking and aggravated assault of a bus driver. He was processed and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
