Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 23-year-old JUANA GALVEZ GENARO of Passaic, NJ on charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department under the direction of Chief Joseph Rinke.

On Saturday, August 10, 2024, at approximately 11:52 p.m., the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing incident at 163 Boulevard, and notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, which also responded to the scene. An investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department revealed that JUANA GALVEZ GENARO, an employee of the establishment, stabbed her co-worker in the chest during an argument. The stabbing victim was transported to an area hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.

As a result of the overnight investigation, JUANA GALVEZ GENARO was charged with second-degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A 2C:12-1b(1); third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4d; and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5d. GALVEZ GENARO was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ pending an appearance in Bergen County Superior Court.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
