Jersey City Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Role in Narcotics Operation

On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, the Honorable John Young sentenced a 35-year-old man to 15 years in New Jersey State Prison for his role in a narcotics operation in Jersey City.

Dwight Drew, of Jersey City, pleaded guilty to Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5a(1) and 2C:35-5b(1), a crime of the first degree; Certain Persons not to Possess a Firearm in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7b a crime of the second degree; and Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2 and 2C:12-1b(1), a crime of the second degree. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison relating to the narcotics offense, which will run concurrent to an eight-year sentence for the firearm offense and seven-year sentence for the conspiracy offense.

The charges stem from a 2020 narcotics investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force, the Jersey City Police Department, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and various other area law enforcement agencies.

The State was represented at sentencing by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Aaron Silverstein.
