Guttenberg Police Blotter - August 19th, 2024 to August 25th, 2024

1. On August 22nd, 2024, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 24-year-old Walter A. Xocop-Gonzalez of Union City, NJ, after discovering that he had an active warrant, issued by the Guttenberg Municipal Court. Mr. Xocop-Gonzalez was transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Xocop-Gonzalez was released on his own recognizance, pending his next court appearance with the Guttenberg Municipal Court.

2. On August 22nd, 2024, the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division was notified of a possible robbery with a handgun on 68th Street. During their investigation, officers spoke with the suspect, who had placed a delivery order from a liquor store and failed to pay. During their investigation, 31-year-old Michael B. Burbano of Guttenberg, NJ, admitted to brandishing a black revolver style BB gun towards the victim, who had attempted to arrange payment while completing the delivery. At that time, Mr. Burbano was transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Mr. Burbano was subsequently charged with robbery [2C:15-1A(2)], possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose [2C:39-4A(1)], possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose – imitation firearm [2C:39-4E], aggravated assault – pointing firearm [2C:12-1B(4)], unlawful possession of a weapon – other weapon [2C:39-5D], and aggravated assault [2C:12-1B(1). Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Burbano was issued his complaint warrant and lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.

3. On August 25th, 2024, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a report of an assault on 68th Street. During their on-scene investigation, officers arrested 31-year-old Brianna E. Aponte of Guttenberg, NJ, after she admitted to assaulting the victim during a dispute over a parking space. Ms. Aponte was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for her arrest processing, where she was charged with simple assault [2C:2-1A(1)]. Upon the completion of her arrest processing, Ms. Aponte was issued her complaint summons and released from police custody.


The charges above are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
