Hoboken Police Arrest Blotter Aug 22, 2024 to Aug 28, 2024

1. On August 22, 2024, at approximately 3:35 p.m., Police Officers Harry Montalvo, Jonathan Figueroa, and Jaydan Gonzalez were on patrol at Fourth and Jackson Streets, when they observed a man they knew was 56-year-old Richard Maldonado of Jersey City, and knew he had a warrant out of Hoboken. They stopped Maldonado, and the warrant was confirmed. He was arrested for bail jumping and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was found to have a warrant for simple assault and one for theft. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

2. On August 22, 2024, at approximately 7:05 p.m., Police Officers Jason Montalvo and Ramon Estrella responded to Pier 13, 1301 Sinatra Dr., on reports of a disorderly individual who possibly had a gun. Sgt. Francis McCourt and Police Officer Damien Bates also responded. Witnesses pointed out the man, later identified as 26-year-old James Hunter of Newark, and officers approached him. No gun was found in his possession. An on-scene investigation revealed that Hunter demanded food from food truck employees, and threatened the employees with gun violence if they did not give him anything. The investigation revealed Hunter also threatened security personnel by saying he had a gun and would kill them if they did not leave him alone. Hunter was placed under arrest and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was charged with robbery and making terroristic threats. He was processed, and ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

3. On August 23, 2024, at approximately 12 p.m., Police Officer Jonathan Figueroa processed the arrest of 32-year-old Imani Muhammad of Hoboken, who was stopped by Parsippany Police Officers that morning and found to have a warrant out of Hoboken for simple assault. She also had multiple warrants out of Secaucus and one out of Morristown. After being processed at Hoboken Police Headquarters, Muhammad was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

4. On August 24, 2024, at approximately 8:25 a.m., Police Officers Michael Aviles and Frank Francolino responded to Walgreens, 1300 Willow Ave., on reports of a shoplifting, in which the actor had already left. Police Officers Jessica Pizanie and Tyrone Huggins saw someone who matched the description of the actor at the 9th Street Light Rail station. They approached the man, later identified as 43-year-old Ramon Falcon of North Bergen, and an on-scene investigation found that Falcon was the actor in the shoplifting. A search incident to arrest located multiple make-up products, valued at $160.92 which matched what was stolen earlier. Officers also found six empty needles, one green cap with a small amount of white powdery substance, and half a wax fold. Falcon was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, and it was discovered he had a warrant from the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office and one from West New York. He was charged with shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

5. On August 24, 2024, at approximately 9:25 a.m., Police Officers Michael Aviles and Frank Francolino responded to Maxwell Park on reports of an unresponsive man on a beach. Officers recognized the man as 40-year-old Angel Alicea of Hoboken and woke him up. Alicea became irate and yelled, which created a disturbance. Alicea was told if he continued the disruptive behavior, he would be arrested. The behavior continued, and he was arrested for disorderly conduct. Alicea was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was processed on the charge and released on a summons.

6. On August 24, 2024, at approximately 9:22 a.m., Police Officers Jessica Arebalo and Frank Lombardo performed a sweep of a commercial building on the 50 block of River St., due to the building being the target of several burglaries in recent weeks, specifically by a man identified as 32-year-old Sangmin Kim of Fort Lee. While on the fifth floor, they heard voices and located Kim carrying the same backpack he was seen carrying in surveillance footage from a burglary incident the day before. A search incident to arrest located a 10-inch knife, burglary tools including a lock pick set, a key pin, multiple keys, a credit card that did not belong to him that was dented on one side, an iPhone, and a hoodie. He was arrested and charged with trespassing and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, where he was processed on a variety of charges in connection to similar offenses on August 23 and August 18, including burglary, criminal trespassing, criminal mischief, possession of burglary, possession of burglary tools, unlawful possession of a weapon, and theft. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

7. On August 24, 2024, at approximately 4:35 p.m., Police Officers Harry Montalvo and Tyrone Huggins were on patrol on the 400 block of Marshall Drive when they observed a man they recognized as 35-year-old Mark Bokuniewicz of Jersey City, who they knew was not a resident of the Hoboken Housing Authority (HHA). Sgt. Adam Colon and Police Officers Rose Kanan, Dominick Allegretta, and Jessica Pizanie arrived on the scene. Bokuniewicz was stopped and it was discovered he had an outstanding warrant out of Hoboken for smoking in public where not permitted. He was given a new court date on that warrant and issued a summons for trespassing. He was told he is prohibited from HHA property and released.

8. On August 24, 2024, at approximately 7:35 p.m., Sgt. Adam Colon and Police Officers Harry Montalvo, Dominic Allegretta, and Tyrone Huggins responded to the area of Second and Jackson Streets, on reports of a man trying to steal a lawn mower. Officers observed a man who matched a description of the actor on the 300 block of Jackson Street, and new him to be 45-year-old Gregory Almonte of North Bergen. Almonte was standing next to a bicycle and a lawn mower. It was discovered that Almonte had a warrant out of Newark. He was charged with bail jumping, given a new court date on the warrant in Newark, and released from custody.

9. On August 25, 2024, at approximately 7:40 a.m. Police Officers Frank Francolino and Marco Grossman responded to CVS, 59 Washington St., to meet with Sgt. Dennis Figueroa and Police Officers Frank Losurdo, Alexander Miller, and Daniella Simone who had a woman, identified as 31-year-old Debby Torres, of East Orange, in custody. Torres had confronted another customer, yelled at her, and hit her several times in the face, causing injuries. Torres had a warrant against her out of Hoboken for failure to appear, and she was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. She was processed and ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

10. On August 26, 2024, at approximately 2 a.m., Police Officers Alexander Miller and Matthew Bonanno processed the arrest of 38-year-old Javier Limon Ramirez of North Bergen. He was brought to Hoboken Police Headquarters by Union City Police officers who had arrested him for driving while intoxicated and discovered he had an open warrant out of Hoboken for failure to appear. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

11. On August 26, 2024, at approximately 1:50 p.m., Police Officer Rose Kanan observed a man in the area of Sixth and Grand Streets peering into car windows while carrying an empty white shopping bag. He was then seen walking into Acme, 614 Clinton St., and when he came out, the bag was full. Police Officer Jason Montalvo arrived on the scene and identified the man as 31-year-old Algenis Santana-Ramirez of Hoboken, who he knew had a warrant. The officers stopped Santana-Ramirez on the 700 block of Jackson Street. Lt. David Olivera arrived on the scene to assist. An on-scene investigation revealed the items in the bag were not paid for. Police Officer Nassir Wiley went to the Acme to investigate, and it was learned Santana-Ramirez had taken multiple hair care products, worth a total of approximately $56.95, and walked out without paying. Santana-Ramiez was arrested for shoplifting. It was learned he had warrants in Hoboken for robbery. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

12. On August 26, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Police Officers Christopher Soto and Michael Losurdo traveled to the Howell Police Department to take custody of 26-year-old Cameron Burns of Fords, who had an active warrant out of Hoboken for leaving the engine running. He also had warrants out of Linden, South Plainfield, and Perth Amboy. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional facility.

13. On August 27, 2024, at approximately 9:25 a.m., Police Officers Frank Francolino, Marco Grossman, and Chris Hatfield responded to Walgreens, 1300 Willow Ave., on reports of a shoplifting, during which employees saw a man placing multiple items worth a total of approximately $50, into a bag and leave without paying. Sgt. Saverio Binetti located a man who fit the description of the actor around 19th Street and Waterfront Terrace in Weehawken. Police Officers Hatfield and Tyrone Huggins responded to that location and the man, later identified as 50-year-old Phillip Realpe of Hoboken was arrested. A search incident to arrest found three crack pipes with residue, two pieces of Brillo, and a metal push rod. He also had some of the items stolen from the Walgreens, along with seven packs of Trader Joes Filet Mignon steaks, valued at $26, found to have been taken from Trader Joe’s. He was charged with shoplifting, receiving stolen property, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

14. On August 27, 2024, at approximately 11:50 a.m., Sgt. Saverio Binetti and Police Officer Brandon Fitzgibbons responded to 7-11, 422 Washington St., on reports of a woman harassing staff and customers. The woman had left the scene before they got there, but came back to the area as officers were leaving the store. They were able to identify her as 54-year-old Bonnie Brickman of Jersey City. She was told she could not go back into the store, and if she did, she would be charged with defiant trespassing. It was discovered Brickman had a warrant out of Hoboken for contempt. She was placed under arrest. A search incident to arrest located shreds of Brillo, commonly used to ingest CDS crack cocaine. She was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. Officers found a glass cylindrical tube stuffed with burnt Brillo shreds and a thin wooden stick, commonly used as a push rod. She was further charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. She was processed and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

15. On August 27, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Sgt. William Collins, and Police Officers Valentino Salgado, John Lawton, Carmen Benitez. Anish Bhisey and Ronald Kibitlewski responded to the 50 block of Adams Street, on reports of a suspicious individual who was entering buildings and asking residents for utility bills. They found the actor, identified as 30-year-old Eddie Walker of Newark and it was discovered he had a warrant out of Newark for fare evasion. Walker was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, given a new court date, and released from custody.

16. On August 27, 2024, at approximately 10 p.m., Police Officers Alexander Miller and Rose Kanan responded to the 500 block of Ninth Street on reports of a man lying on the ground. When they arrived, they saw a man who matched the description of the individual. Officers found the man’s speech to be slow and slurred. Sgt. Tyler Soto and Police Officers Arturo Gonzalez, Alyssa Rivera, Valentino Salgado, and Jairo De La Cruz arrived on the scene. While speaking with the male, later identified as 34-year-old Charles Schmidt of Jersey City, officers observed he was holding a small vial of a brownish liquid, believed to be PCP. He also had a large quantity of small denominations of cash, consistent the distribution of illegal narcotics. An on-scene investigation identified Schmidt as a suspect in an earlier complaint of suspicious activity, which was consistent with hand-to-hand drug deals. Schmidt was charged with distribution of CDS involving PCP above ten grams, distribution of CDS within 500 feet of a public housing facility, and distribution of CDS within 1,000 feet of school property. Schmidt was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and ultimately taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

17. On August 28, 2024, at approximately 7:05 p.m., Sgt. Roary Miller and Police Officers Harold Milne, Anish Bhisey, Kyle Seper, and Damien Bates responded to Sinatra Park on reports of a man masturbating in front of people in the area, including children walking by. Officers found a man who matched the description of the actor sitting on a bench, calling out to passing pedestrians. He was identified as 35-year-old Jose Vasquez of Union City and was arrested. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, where he continued his illegal behavior in front of officers. He was charged with three counts of criminal sexual contact. He had an open warrant out of Hoboken for possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia, and two out of Union City. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
