Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, Paterson Police Department Officer In Charge Isa Abbassi, and Paterson Fire Chief Alex Alicea announce that on September 20, 2024, at approximately 2:32 a.m., the Paterson Fire Department was dispatched to 71 North 7th Street in Paterson on a report of a residential fire. Two individuals, a 69-year-old male and a 28-year-old male, both from Paterson, were able to escape the fire. After extinguishing the fire, investigators discovered the bodies of two other individuals. Identification of the deceased has not been confirmed and is pending an investigation by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
This investigation is active and ongoing. More information will be released when it becomes available.
