Johnny Aguilar
Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Passaic Chief of Police Luis Guzman
announce that based upon an investigation by the Passaic Police Department and the Passaic
County Prosecutor’s Office, Johnny Aguilar, 32-years-old from Carlstadt, was charged in
connection to the September 20, 2024, fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred in the area of
Paulison Avenue and Pennington Avenue in Passaic, New Jersey. Johnny Aguilar was charged
with second-degree Death by Auto.
On Friday, September 20, 2024, the Passaic Police Department was dispatched to the
intersection of Paulison Avenue and Pennington Avenue on a reported motor vehicle accident.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a victim, Carlos Ocasio-Rodriguez, a 59-year-old
male, in the middle of the intersection. The victim was driving his motorcycle through the
intersection when he was struck by a Ford Excursion operated by Johnny Aguilar. The victim
was pronounced deceased at Saint Mary’s Hospital. It was determined that Johnny Aguilar’s
blood alcohol content was over the legal limit at the time of the collision.
Johnny Aguilar is currently in custody awaiting his first appearance at Central Judicial
Processing.
The crime of Second-degree Death by Auto carries a sentencing range between 5 years and 10
years imprisonment.
Criminal complaints are merely accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and
until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
