1. On September 12, 2024, at approximately 1:25 p.m., Police Officer Aidan Gonzalez and Valentino Salgado processed the arrest of 45-year-old Larone Ferguson of Hoboken, who turned himself in at Hoboken Police Headquarters on a summons complaint for theft. The charges stem from a report taken by Police Officers Jairo DeLaCruz and Zachary Guido on August 29, 2024, in which a victim told them a package was stolen from her residence on the 300 block of Marshall Drive. A follow-up investigation by Detectives John Quinones and Daniel Grossi identified Ferguson as the actor. Once processed, Ferguson was released from custody on a summons.
2. On September 12, 2024, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Police Officer Dylan Archilla was on routine patrol on the 1200 block of Hudson Street, when he observed a double-parked car. He activated his overhead lights and sirens. It was discovered that the registered owner of the vehicle, later identified as 63-year-old Marwan Kassabdulahad of Fairview, had a warrant out of Hoboken for driving with a suspended license. Police Officers John Lawton and Alyssa Rivera arrived on the scene to assist. Kassabdulahad was placed under arrest for bail jumping and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was also issued a summons for double parking and later released from custody.
3. On September 14, 2024, at approximately 3:15 a.m., Police Officers Marvin DeJesus and Anthony Rutkowski were on the 50 block of Washington Street when they observed two men engaged in an argument. At one point, one of the men, later identified as 23-year-old Chrisopher Clancy of Staten Island, shoved and then punched the other man. Clancy ran from the scene but tripped and fell about a block away. He was placed under arrest and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing on simple assault charges. He was later released on a summons. During a follow up investigation by Police Officers Aaron Font and Shawn Sodora, an individual, later identified as 21-year-old John Rodriguez of North Bergen, tried to interfere with the investigation. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and released on a summons.
4. On September 15, 2024, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Police Officers Enrico Gnassi and Ricky Truppner were on the 50 block of Washington Street, when they observed a large crowd of people begin to form. When they got closer, they observed two men, later identified as 24-yearold Matthew DeJesus of Paramus and 27-year-old Sid Ali Benameur of Jersey City, physically fighting each other on the floor. The officers broke up the two men. Members of the Stevens Institute of Technology Police Department and the New Jersey Transit Police Department responded to the scene to assist. Both men were brought to Hoboken Police Headquarters. They both refused medical attention. DeJesus and Benameur were both charged with simple assault, processed, and later released on a summons.
5. On September 16, 2024, at approximately 4:45 a.m., Police Officers Shawn Sodora and Aaron Font responded to the Paterson Police Department to pick-up and transport 40-year-old Rami Alirani of Paterson to Hoboken Police Headquarters. Alirani was arrested in Paterson for simple assault and was found to have a warrant out of Hoboken for driving while intoxicated that was issued on February 1, 2024. He was processed and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
6. On September 16, 2024, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Police Officer Arturo Gonzalez was at the intersection of Washington and Third Streets when he observed a man riding an e-bike on the sidewalk at a high rate of speed and stopped him. While the officer was gathering information to issue a ticket, the man gave a fake name, and then attempted to flee on the e-bike. When the officer grabbed the e-bike, the actor jumped off and ran. Police Officers Gonzalez and Joseph Lupo ran after him and ordered him to stop multiple times. Sgt. Dennis Figueroa, Police Officers Jessica Arebalo, Roberto Cuevas, and Jonathan Figueroa and Detective Michael Losurdo all arrived to assist. The actor continued to run until he got to the 200 block of Sinatra Drive, jumped over a fence, and threatened to jump into the Hudson River. During the foot chase, and while attempting to keep the man from entering the river, multiple officers suffered minor injuries. The individual, later identified as 46-year-old Corey Lamont Cooke of Jersey City, was safely placed under arrest. It was discovered he had warrants out of Jersey City for failing to comply with sex offender registration and notification laws, and for simple assault. He was further charged with obstructing the administration of law, three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and hindering apprehension. He also received a summons for operating an electric bicycle on a public sidewalk. Cooke was taken to an area hospital for a pre-existing condition and once treated, will be transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
7. On September 16, 2024, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Police Officer Enrico Gnassi responded to the 500 block of Jefferson Street on reports of a package theft, in which someone entered a building by manipulating the front entry lock and was then seen rummaging through cardboard boxes and placing some items into his shopping bags. A man who fit the description of the suspect was seen by Police Officer Aaron Font in the area of Sixth and Jackson Streets. Officer Gnassi made his way to that area, and saw the same man, later identified as 46-year-old Glen Landi of Weehawken, in a gated area of the Hoboken Housing Authority. When it was learned Landi didn’t live there, he was arrested for defiant trespassing. Police Officers Tyronne Huggins, Andreas Bonilla, Frank Lombardo, and Daniel Barron arrived on scene to assist. A search incident to arrest yielded multiple items still in the packaging including bug repellent, kitchen supplies, clothing, and a pocketbook. He was also in possession of a credit card that was bent and appeared to have been used to manipulate a lock. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. A follow-up investigation found that the items found on Landi belonged to residents of the building he was seen entering. He was charged with three counts of package theft from a residential property, burglary, possession of burglary tools, and defiant trespassing. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
8. On September 17, 2024, at approximately 5:20 p.m., Police Officers Harry Montalvo and Jayden Gonzalez were conducting a sweep of a Hoboken Housing Authority building on the 300 block of Marshall Drive when they observed a woman sitting on a seventh-floor roof landing, smoking illegal narcotics. Officers located a small yellow cylinder capsule containing a white powdery substance, suspected to be CDS crack cocaine and a glass cylindrical pipe with wire mesh and residue. The woman was identified as 32-year-old Christina Castellano of Hoboken, and she was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where it was revealed she had a warrant out of Hoboken for criminal mischief. She was further charged with possession of CDS crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and criminal trespassing, as she did not live in the HHA building. She was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
