At one point, one of the men, later identified as 23-year-old Chrisopher Clancy of Staten Island, shoved and then punched the other man. Clancy ran from the scene but tripped and fell about a block away. He was placed under arrest and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing on simple assault charges. He was later released on a summons. During a follow up investigation by Police Officers Aaron Font and Shawn Sodora, an individual, later identified as 21-year-old John Rodriguez of North Bergen, tried to interfere with the investigation. A follow-up investigation found that the items found on Landi belonged to residents of the building he was seen entering.
