Tenafly Mayor's Message, September 27, 2024

Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

The dog park on Grove Street will be closed for construction and improvements beginning Monday, September 30, 2024. We expect the Grove Street Park to reopen in early January, 2025. It will include an expanded dog park with water fountains, walking paths, a pollinator garden, and followed up with a skate park. Updates will be posted as available.

PSE&G is planning to perform gas line work on West Railroad Avenue from Riveredge Road to West Clinton on Thursday and Friday next week, October 3 and 4 weather permitting. Updates will be provided as available if the schedule changes.

Celebrate Fall with the Nature Center this weekend. On Sunday morning trail runners can sign up for the 13th annual Lost Brook Trail Race and enjoy a morning experiencing sections of the trails as you navigate over roots, rocks and streams. Sunday afternoon adults and families can sign up for Apple Cider Making and learn about the history of apple cultivation and cider making and experience one of the original ways of making fresh, crisp apple cider. Finally Autumn Break Camp is next week, while school is out, kids in Pre-K-6th grade can keep learning and have fun too! Children will explore TNC woods and trails, make crafts, share stories and play games while learning about the environment. Sign up for this and more at tenaflynaturecenter.org

Join the Borough of Tenafly, the League of Women Voters, and honored guests as we celebrate women’s voting rights. We will honor the contribution of Tenafly's own Elizabeth Cady Stanton and celebrate the 19th amendment and the "sister city" status that we now have with Seneca Falls, New York, the suffragist's other important home. Refreshments will be served. It's free and all are welcome! 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm this Sunday, September 29 at Borough Hall in the Council Chambers.

The Tenafly Library Friends will be presenting a collection of Internationally acclaimed short films free of charge in the Tenafly library. The showing of the Manhattan Short film festival will be this Sunday, September 29th at 1:00 pm, Monday, September 30th at 6:00 pm, and Tuesday, October 1st at 2:00 pm. Pick a date and mark your calendars for this wonderful and interesting event.

The Korean Community Center is hosting a new art exhibit, the collected drawings of artist John Ebbert. The opening reception is this Saturday, September 28 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The exhibit runs through October 10 at the KCC on Grove Street.

Mommy, Daddy & Me, every Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:30 am beginning September 28. Ages 5 and under welcome with caregiver. Fun and creative play and social time. Sunday, September 29 at 4:30 pm is the book event: "Played", in conversation with author, Glenn Allen about his novel regarding the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The Fall Festival with food, live music, games, and an art exhibit outside in the gardens, or inside if rainy, is Saturday, October 19, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. ACEing Autism, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help children with Autism Spectrum Disorder grow, develop and benefit from social connections and fitness through affordable tennis programming at the JCC. It will run every Sunday until October 20 (except October 13), from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The Community Chest Fall Celebration is Tuesday, October 29 at the Englewood Field Club, featuring Shake, Rattle and Roll Dueling Pianos.
