Washington Township Man Convicted For Murder of His Girlfriend

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the conviction of PATRICK J. CAMILLI, 59, of Washington Township, NJ in connection with the murder of Mary E. Huber on October 23, 2021. After a four-week trial that began in September 2024 before the Honorable James X. Sattely, P.J.S.C. in Bergen County Superior Court, the defendant was found guilty. Sentencing is scheduled for November 22, 2024.

On Sunday, October 24, 2021, at approximately 12:05 a.m., the Washington Township Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting an incident at 41 Lexington Court in Washington Township. Officers responded and located PATRICK J. CAMILLI on the floor of the residence. He was lying on top of 51-year-old Mary E. Huber and there was a knife in close proximity to him. Ms. Huber, who had suffered multiple stab wounds and bruises, was transported to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ, where she was pronounced deceased.

PATRICK J. CAMILLI was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment of self-inflicted stab wounds and subsequently arrested for the murder of Mary E. Huber by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Squad and the Washington Township Police Department. An autopsy performed by the Bergen County Medical Examiner Office revealed there were at least 29 sharp force injuries and 20 blunt force injuries to the victim.

On October 7, 2024, a jury convicted PATRICK J. CAMILLI of murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. The sentencing range in this matter is between 30 years and life imprisonment in New Jersey State Prison, of which the defendant shall serve 30 years before being eligible for parole.

The State was represented by Assistant Prosecutors Yomara Castro and Craig Becker of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office (“BCPO”). They were assisted by Sergeant Anthony Primiano and Detective Jeff Hansen of the BCPO Major Crimes Unit, as well as BCPO Victim Advocate Susan Tanis. The defendant was represented by Landry Belizaire, Esq. of Belizaire & Associates P.A.

Prosecutor Mark Musella thanks Assistant Prosecutors Castro and Becker for their zealous advocacy, and for helping to bring justice for the victim in this prosecution. Prosecutor Musella also commends the detectives of the Major Crimes Unit, the members of the Washington Township and Westwood Police Departments, as well as the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department for their skill and professionalism in investigating this matter.
