Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.
The DPW and the Recycling Center will be closed Monday for the Columbus Day holiday. Garbage pick up on the East side of town will be picked up as scheduled.
Please remember that there are no U-Turns permitted on Washington Street. There have been some recent U-Turn incidents effecting the safety of other drivers and pedestrians.
A friendly reminder to please cut back brush and shrubbery from your sidewalks. Now that the kids are back in school, more people are using sidewalks and its safer without overgrowth.
In High School sports news, Boys Soccer plays Dwight Morrow on Sunday in Counties. Girls Soccer qualified for Counties for the first time in 5 years and will play Glen Rock on Monday. Boys football defeated 5-1 Fort Lee Thursday night 25-14. Congrats to all the players.
Only two weekends left to enjoy apple cider making at the Nature Center and everyone is welcome this Sunday at 2:00 or 3:30 pm. Adults and families can now register for the Nature Center's Haunted Forest on October 27. This fun and not scary program features live nocturnal animals, crafts, games, and campfire memories. In partnership with the Senior Center, the Nature Center invites seniors to sign up through the Senior Center for Apple Cider Making on Saturday, October 19. Learn about the history of apple cultivation and cider making and experience one of the original ways of making fresh, crisp apple cider! Contact the Senior Center today.

Mommy, Daddy & Me, every Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:30 am for Ages 5 and under, welcome with caregiver. The Fall Festival with food, live music, games, and an art exhibit in the gardens is Saturday, October 19, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Music for piano performed by Jim Millar of works by Haydn, Berg, Granadas and Chopin on Sunday, October 27 at 4:30 pm in the old stone chapel. All at Presbyterian Church, 55 Magnolia. Get ready for a day of fun at the Tenafly Fall Festival on Sunday, October 20 from Noon to 5:00 pm in Huyler Park. And, start preparing your Halloween costumes for the Festival contest! This Festival will be a day filled with fun, unique shopping, food trucks, seasonal activities, and live performances making it a terrific community event.
ACEing Autism, a non-profit whose mission is to help children with Autism Spectrum Disorder grow, develop and benefit from social connections and fitness through affordable tennis programming at the JCC. Save the Date - On Saturday, October 26 from 9:00 am to 12 Noon it’s a Pancake Breakfast and Bake Sale at the Senior Center. This event is open to everyone. More details to follow.
The Community Chest Fall Celebration is Tuesday, October 29 at the Englewood Field Club, featuring Shake, Rattle and Roll Dueling Pianos.
