Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

The recycling in Zone 4 that is normally scheduled to be picked up on Thursday, November 28 will instead be picked up on Saturday, November 30. The West Side paper recycling that is scheduled to be picked up on Friday, November 29, will be picked up as scheduled.

Tenafly Schools - The Tenafly Board of Education, consisting of a nine member Board, is currently seeking a qualified candidate from the Borough of Tenafly to be appointed to the Board. The vacancy is due to the resignation of one of its members. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel will be celebrating its 150th anniversary and its recently renovated church with a Mass at 5 pm this Saturday, November 23. The Mass is open to the public and will include choral and organ music. Come visit the renovated church featuring its refreshed stained glass windows that date back to the original 1878 chapel, terrazzo floor and other features. A bejeweled chalice donated by parishioners in the 1920s as a memorial of local residents who gave their lives in World War I will be used in the Mass.

Trinity Lutheran Church will host a benefit concert with the Jerry Squillante Jazz Quartet and the Tenafly High School Jazz Band, The Brass Tax. The concert is this Sunday November 24 at 3:30 pm. Guests are asked to bring nonperishable foods and/or diapers as a donation in lieu of ticket sales. Your generosity will help support the Office of Concern Food Pantry. Trinity Lutheran Church is located at the corner of Knickerbocker and Riveredge Roads.

Resident registration for Recreation Winter Program, Sports and Events begins November 25. Visit the Borough website under Parks & Recreation for more information.

On December 3 we will be celebrating the annual lighting of the Christmas tree at 6:30 pm in Huyler Park. Please join in, everyone is welcome to participate.

Calling all singers to join the community choir rehearsals on Wednesday, December 4 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm, culminating in a candlelit service on December 8 in the Old Stone Chapel at 6:30 pm. Ages 14 and up welcome at the Presbyterian Church.

The Tenafly Holiday Fair is coming on December 14. Please sign up to participate by sponsoring the event, presenting a vendor booth in the artisan market, or volunteering to run an engaging activity. The Senior Center is looking for Bridge players. If you are interested in a casual game of bridge contact the Center for details. All levels of bridge are welcomed. The games take place on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 10:00 am.
