On November 8, 2024, Millburn Police Matos stopped a vehicle at the Short Hills Mall wanted in connection with a burglary out of Illinois. The driver provided Officer Matos with a fraudulent ID. The suspect, Simon Tejo-Sandoval, age 24, of CA was placed under arrest and charged with Hindering and providing false government document, he was lodged in Essex County Correctional facility awaiting extradition.

On November 9, 2024, Millburn Police Griffin stopped a vehicle at the Short Hills Mall wanted in connection with a shoplifting at mall that occurred on July 11, 2024. The driver provided Officer Griffin with a false name, and possessed fraudulent ID’s. The suspect, Salim Jackson, age 39, of West Orange was placed under arrest and charged with Hindering and forgery. He had warrants out of multiple jurisdictions. He was lodged in Essex County Correctional facility.

On November 10, 2024, during early morning hours Millburn Police responded to a Deerfield Rd residence on a report of a burglary to the residence. The investigation revealed that the unknown actors entered the unoccupied residence through an unlocked door. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On November 12, 2024, Millburn Officer Goldfarb responded to Chase Bank on Millburn Ave on a report of a male attempting to cash a fraudulent check. The investigation revealed that the suspect opened a bank using fraudulent documents and attempted to cash a fraudulent check. George Leeper, age 57, Of NY, was placed under arrest and charged with check fraud, forgery, impersonating another, and theft by deception.

On November 13, 2024, Millburn Police Officer Hunt-Miles responded to Macy’s in the Short Hills Mall on a report of a theft that just occurred. Macy’s associates reported that Garrett Crockett, age 32 and Malik Reed, age 34, of Newark concealed a combined total of $3,321 worth of merchandise and left the store without paying. The suspects were placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.

On November 16, 2024, Millburn Police Officer Strumolo responded to Dolce &Gabbana in the Short Hills Mall on a report of a theft that just occurred. The store associate reported that Tawana Smith, age 52, of Brooklyn NY concealed a combined total of $2595.00 worth of merchandise and left the store without paying. The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.

On November 19, 2024, Millburn Police Officer Kelly responded to Macy’s in the Short Hills Mall on a report of a theft that just occurred. The store associate reported that Jose Contreras, age 27, of Paterson NJ concealed a combined total of $410.00 worth of merchandise and left the store without paying. The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.

On November 24, 2024, Millburn Police Officer Kelly responded to Neiman Marcus in the Short Hills Mall on a report of a theft that just occurred. The store associate reported that Szymanski Krzysztof, age 70, of Staten Island NY concealed $200.00 worth of merchandise and left the store without paying. The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.

On November 30, 2024, Millburn Police Officer Matos responded to Macy’s in the Short Hills Mall on a report of a theft that just occurred. Macy’s associates reported that Arelis Nata-Granda, age 22 and Erick Guilcapiniguez, age 24, of Plainfield removed security sensors and concealed a $280.00 worth of merchandise and left the store without paying. The suspects were placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting conspiracy.

On December 2, 2024, Officer Genitempo stopped a Moped traveling east on Millburn Ave near Holmes Street for motor vehicle violations. The driver provided a false name to the Officer. The investigation revealed that the moped was stolen from NY city in March of 2024. Miguel Gonzalez-Santos was placed under arrest and charged Hindering Apprehension and receiving stolen property.


These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty in a court of law.
