Arrest Made in Connection with Nov. 12 Fatal Shooting in Paterson

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Patrick Murray announce that based upon an investigation by the Paterson Police Department, in conjunction with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Robert Davis, a 43- year-old male from Paterson, has been charged in connection to the November 12, 2024, homicide that occurred in the area of Godwin Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard in Paterson. Robert Davis is charged with Murder, first degree; Attempted Murder, first degree; Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, second degree; Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, second degree; and Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons, second degree.

On November 12, 2024, at approximately 3:49 a.m., officers from the Paterson Police Department were dispatched to the area of Godwin Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard in response to a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located evidence of a shooting including ballistic evidence. Patrol officers were then notified of a car accident in front of Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center. One of the vehicle’s occupants, a 27-year-old male from Paterson, exited the vehicle and went inside the hospital with a gunshot wound and was admitted for treatment. The other occupant of the vehicle, a 21-year-old male from Staten Island, New York, was located inside the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds and was subsequently pronounced deceased. The subsequent investigation resulted in the identification of Robert Davis as the shooter.

Robert Davis was arrested on December 2, 2024, without incident. The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office will file a motion for pre-trial detention which will be heard by a Superior Court Judge at a date and time to be determined by the Court.

Murder has a sentencing range from a minimum of 30 years up to life imprisonment; Attempted Murder has a sentencing range between 10 and 20 years in prison; the crimes of Possession of a Handgun for an Unlawful Purpose (Second Degree), Unlawful Possession of a Handgun (Second Degree), and Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons (Second Degree) each have a sentencing range of 5 to 10 years in prison.

Criminal complaints are merely accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

This investigation is active and ongoing. More information will be released when it becomes available.
