1. On November 28, 2024, around 12 a.m., Police Officers Alyssa Rivera, Roberto Cuevas,
Anthony Rutkowski, Keven DeLaCruz, and Jason Montalvo, responded to the 300 block of
Marshall Drive, on reports of two men yelling at each other outside of a Hoboken Housing
Authority (HHA) building. When they arrived, they saw a man who fit the description given by
the caller, later identified as 34-year-old Reymundo Melendez of Union City, and it was learned
he did not live on HHA property. A second man, later identified as 33-year-old Angel Lopez-Sierra of Hoboken, was also located standing in a playground area on HHA property and did not
live there. During the on-site investigation a woman, later identified as 38-year-old Daniela Diaz
of West New York, approached officers. It was discovered both Melendez and Diaz had warrants
for their arrest. A search incident to arrest of Diaz discovered two cylindrical glass pipes with
burnt ends commonly used to smoke CDS crack cocaine, a metal push rod commonly used for
CDS, and four plastic straws that were cut into small pieces. She was placed under arrest and
transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing on a new charge of possession of
drug paraphernalia, and on the warrants, which were from West New York and Wayne. She was
transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility. Melendez was also placed under arrest
and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed on the warrants from Roxbury,
Wharton, and Teaneck, and released from custody. Lopez-Sierra was issued a summons for
defiant trespassing and released from custody on the scene.
2. On November 29, 2024, at approximately 5:05 p.m., Police Officers Nasir Willey and Andrias
Bonilla responded to residential building on the 1200 block of Willow Avenue, on reports of an
unhoused individual sleeping on a second-floor landing. They recognized the woman as 55-year-old Ivecka Leonard of North Arlington and told her she couldn’t be inside the building, which
she had been advised of multiple times before. She was issued a summons for trespassing,
informed about a local warming center and shelter, and released from custody.
3. On November 29, 2024, at approximately 10:10 p.m., Sgt. Francis McCourt and Police
Officers Marc Lombardi and Keven De La Cruz responded to the 300 block of Grand Street on
reports of an individual exiting the building with a large number of packages in a cart. When
they arrived, officers saw a woman they recognized as 53-year-old Jennifer Smith of Hoboken,
exiting the building and watched her put a package into a laundry cart that already had a handful
of packages in it. When Smith saw the officers she ran back into and through the building, to exit
on the other side. Officer Rose Kanan arrived on the scene to assist. Smith was arrested for
burglary and theft and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where she was processed.
She was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
4. On November 30, 2024, at approximately 1:20 p.m., Police Officers Rose Kanan and
Nathaniel Arocho responded to the 300 block of River Street on reports of a trespassing where a
tenant confronted two strangers he found in his unit. The pair left before the officers arrived, but
during an on-site investigation, they were able to recognize one of the people as 33-year-old
Alyssa Anderson of Hoboken, who they knew stayed at the Hoboken Shelter, which is where
they later located her. She was arrested and charged for criminal trespassing and transported to
Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing, before being released with a summons.
5. On November 30, 2024, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Police Officers John Rodriguez and
Shyenna Vega responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting where store
security had detained the actor. An on-scene investigation revealed that store security saw 45-
year-old Arkadii Kryvosheia of Jersey City put seven items in a backpack, paid for a few items,
but tried to walk out without paying for approximately $80.38 worth of items. He was stopped by
security before he could leave. He was charged with shoplifting, processed, and released with a
summons and a court date.
6. On November 30, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Police Officers Rose Kanan and Remy
Garcia-Marte responded to the Hoboken Shelter, 300 Bloomfield St., to assist the Hoboken
Volunteer Ambulance Corps (HVAC) with a disorderly intoxicated person. They located the
individual, later identified as 59-year-old Joginder Sharma of Union City, outside the shelter
shouting at bystanders. He yelled racial slurs and offensive language at the EMTs and officers.
They attempted to help him into an ambulance, but Sharma became increasingly agitated and
refused assistance. At one point, he stepped towards the officers tensing his body in a threatening
manner. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and was ultimately released on a summons.
7. On December 1, 2024, at approximately 2:25 a.m., Police Officers John Rodriguez and Marc
Mooreman responded to the 500 block of Bloomfield Street for a parked car being hit by another
vehicle. As they arrived, they observed a man, later identified as 24-year-old Jesse Savinon of
Bloomfield, get into his car and begin to rev the engine. Officers told him to shut off the car,
which he did. Sgt. Harold Milne arrived on the scene to assist. Savinon had difficulty locating his
proper identification and documents. Officers observed him to have slow speech and glossy eyes.
Police Officer Dylan Allegretta arrived on the scene to conduct a field sobriety test, after which
Savinon was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters. He refused a breath sample. He was charged and issued summonses on driving
while intoxicated, refusal to provide breath sample, refusal to submit to test, and reckless driving.
As per John’s law, Savinon was released into the custody of a responsible party.
8. On December 1, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Police Officers Bianca Arroyo and
Nathaniel Arocho responded to Sparrow Liquors, 1212 Shipyard Ln., on reports of a shoplifting,
where employees were trying to keep the suspect on scene. Officers arrived on scene and saw
two employees holding the suspect, later identified as 42-year-old Raheem Gadsden of Jersey
City, who was also holding his bag. When officers told the employees to let Gadsden go, he tried
to walk away and then ignored officers' commands to stop and put his hands behind his back.
Police Officers Joshua Campoverde, Cynthia Rivera, and Marco Grossman arrived to assist, and
Gadsden was placed under arrest. His bag was found to be holding multiple bottles of wine,
totaling approximately $265.50. Gadsden was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He
was charged with shoplifting and resisting arrest, processed, and transported to the Hudson
County Correctional Facility.
9. On December 2, 2024, at approximately 3:10 a.m., Police Officers Alexander Miller and
Daniela Simone were conducting a regular check of Maxwell Park, when they observed an
orange tent and other belongings under bushes and trees near the beach area. The owner of the
items, known to police as 37-year-old Brittany Kennedy of Union City, had been told many
times prior to this incident that she could not set her tent up on City property. Officers once again
told her she could not be there. Kennedy was issued a summons for defiant trespassing and
released.
10. On December 2, 2024, at approximately 9:11 a.m., Police Officer Nathaniel Arocho
responded to the Blue Ribbon, 400 Jefferson St., on reports of a shoplifting where the actor had
fled the area. Upon arrival, he met the caller who pointed out the actor, who was walking west on
Third Street. Officer Arocho stopped the actor, later identified as 29-year-old Anthony
Bevilacqua-Smith of Florida. Sgt. Roary Miller, Sgt. Jason Falco, and Police Officers Bianca
Arroyo and Frank Lombardi arrived on the scene to assist. An on-scene investigation revealed
Bevilacqua-Smith had taken a pre-rolled CBD cigarette worth $10 and left without paying. It
was discovered that Bevilacqua-Smith had an outstanding warrant out of the State of Florida, and
he was arrested for being a fugitive from justice. He was transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters where he was processed and then transported to the Hudson County Correctional
Facility.
11. On December 2, 2024, at approximately 9:54 a.m., Police Officers Michael Aviles and
Jennifer Lee responded to the 200 block of Adams Street on reports of a man sleeping in an
eighth-floor stairwell. Upon arrival, they found property, including a cell phone, that appeared to
be left behind by someone who had been staying in the stairwell landing. They also found two
syringes with an unknown liquid in them and a cylindrical container containing a light-colored
rock believed to be CDS crack cocaine. They later located a man, later identified as 33-year-old
Angel Lopez of Hoboken, who did not live in the building, and an on-scene investigation
revealed the property left behind belonged to him. A search incident to arrest found Lopez to be
in possession of a clear glass cylindrical pipe commonly used to smoke CDS crack cocaine. He
was transported to Police Headquarters where he was processed on the charges of defiant
trespassing, possession of CDS, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the
Hudson County Correctional Facility.
12. On December 2, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Sgt. Roary Miller and Police Officers
Nicholas Losurdo, Anthony Rutkowski, and Marvin DeJesus responded to the Hoboken
University Medical Center (HUMC), 308 Willow Ave., on reports of a patient who had assaulted
medical personnel. On on-scene investigation revealed the woman, known to officers as 19-year-old Crystal Reynoso of Union City, acted erratically toward hospital staff including nurses, one
of whom she struck on the face and arm causing pain. Reynoso was placed under arrest and
transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and processed on charges of assaulting medical
personnel. She was issued a summons and released from custody.
13. On December 3, 2024, at approximately 2:10 a.m. Police Officers Alexander Miller and
Ricky Truppner responded to PNC Bank, 111 River St., on reports a man was sleeping inside the
vestibule. Police Officers Nicholas Valerius and Shyenna Vega also responded. Officers woke up
the individual and recognized him as 24-year-old Tyrese Buckhanon of Hoboken, who they
knew had been told multiple times prior that he cannot sleep in vestibules. He was issued a
special complaint summons for defiant trespassing. He was offered a ride to a shelter and
resources to combat homelessness, both of which he declined. Buckhanon was released from
custody on the scene.
14. On December 2, 2024, at approximately 7:35 a.m., Police Officers Nicholas Valerius,
Jayden Gonzalez, Valentino Salgado, and Mark Mooreman responded to Walgreens, 1300
Willow Ave., on reports of a disorderly individual who had already been removed from the store
earlier that morning by officers. At that point, she was told if she went back into the store, she
would be issued a summons for defiant trespassing. The woman, later identified as 45-year-old
Ivecka Leonard of Hoboken, was escorted out of the store, and due to her behavior, transported
to an area hospital by the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps. She was issued a summons for
defiant trespassing.
15. On December 3, 2024, at approximately 8:45 a.m., Sgt. Steven Kranz, Sgt. Jason Falco, and
Police Officer Bianca Arroyo responded to Walgreens, 1300 Willow Ave., on reports of a
shoplifting. Det. Nicholas Protopoppadakis arrived on the scene to assist with an on-scene
investigation which discovered approximately $66 in toys was taken from the store. Sgt. Kranz
located a man who fit the description of the suspect on the 700 block of Jackson Street. Sgt.
Falco and Police Officers Arroyo, Nasir Wiley, Ramon Estrella, and Teddy Santiago also
responded. The man was identified as 45-year-old Larone Ferguson of Hoboken and a search
incident to arrest located the missing toys in his bag. Ferguson was arrested and charged with
shoplifting. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and ultimately
transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
16. On December 3, 2024, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Police Officers Trevor Thomas, Roberto
Cuevas, and Alyssa Rivera responded to Ninth Street between Madison and Adams Streets on
reports of an individual exhibiting suspicious behavior. They located a man fitting the
description, who was also reported to attempt to enter two businesses in the area. An employee
of one of those stores waved officers down and explained the man, later identified as 38-year-old
Christopher Parker-Young of Jersey City, was staring blankly into the store door window with a
ski mask covering his face, which made her nervous. Even after she locked the door, he
attempted to enter multiple times. Parker-Young was asked multiple questions by officers but
had a blank stare and was off-balance. While being transported to a local hospital, officers
smelled an odor of phencyclidine (PCP) emanating from him and a search located a wet half-smoked cigar which is commonly known to be used to inhale PCP, along with aluminum foil that
had the strong odor of PCP permeating from it. Parker was placed under arrest for possession of
CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was ultimately released on a summons with a
court date.
17. On December 4, 2024, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Police Officer Aidan Gonzalez
responded to the intersection of Washington and Seventh Streets, on reports of a man sleeping in
the driver’s seat of a car parked in a bike lane, with the ignition still on. Sgt. Michael Straten and
Police Officer Enrico Gnassi also responded and observed a half-full bottle of cognac in the cup
holder. Officers also smelled the strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath.
He was identified as 28-year-old Ulises Luis-Cruz of Union City, and he was observed to be
slurring his speech. He didn’t provide any documents when asked. Police Officer Dylan Archilla
arrived to conduct standardized field sobriety test, after which he was placed under arrest for
driving while intoxicated. During the arrest, Luis-Cruz attempted to resist by tucking his arms to
his chest and trying to flee the scene on foot. He was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters for processing. It was learned that Luis-Cruz did not have permission to drive the
car he was found in. He was further charged with unlawful taking means of conveyance and
resisting arrest and was issued summonses for refusal to provide breath samples, reckless
driving, prohibited parking, and unlicensed driver. As per John’s Law he was released into the
custody of a responsible party.
