Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 28-year-old RONAL P. VASQUEZ of Ridgefield Park, NJ on charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Garfield Police Department under the direction of Officer-in-Charge Joseph Delaney.

On Sunday, December 29, 2024, the Garfield Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged incident of sexual assault that had occurred in the past. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Garfield Police Department revealed that RONAL P. VASQUEZ sexually assaulted a child between the ages of thirteen and sixteen in Garfield, NJ on one occasion, while also providing the child with marijuana and alcohol. The investigation further revealed that VASQUEZ had previously sexually assaulted the child, on two occasions, when the child was under the age of thirteen, at locations in Lodi, NJ and Passaic, NJ.

As a result of the investigation, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, RONAL P. VASQUEZ was arrested in Ridgefield Park, NJ and charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(1); second-degree sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(4); and three counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a. VASQUEZ was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Garfield Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
