Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

The new Tenafly Municipal Pool is accepting early bird discount registrations for the summer of 2025 now on Community Pass. Register by February 28 to secure your spot at the pool and receive your discount. http://register.communitypass.net/tenafly

This Sunday at 11:00 am families can take part in Hibernation Happenings at the Nature Center. Enjoy learning how cold winter weather finds many animals curled up in their dens to stay warm. The Nature Centers MLK Jr. Nature Day Camp registration closes next Wednesday on January 15. Register for these programs and more at tenaflynaturecenter.org

The Tenafly Library Friends are starting off the new year with two exciting events. On Sunday, January 12 at 2:00 pm in the library, the Friends will be presenting a concert with students from the JCC Thurnauer School of Music. This program promises to be an afternoon of beautiful classical music showcasing the skills of exceptional young musicians. Admission is free and open to the public.

And on Tuesday, January 14, the Friends will show an excellent movie in the library at 1:00 pm. This month's selection is the acclaimed Finnish movie, Fallen Leaves, winner of the 2023 Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Time Magazine called it "a quiet masterpiece about tenderness in a cold world." This showing is free to all.

The Chinese Parents Association is inviting everyone to the second annual K-12 Young Artists Art Exhibition opening reception on Tuesday, January 14 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Tenafly Public Library. The collection includes 49 pieces of artwork, with voting for favorite pieces and a silent auction to support CPAT. The Korean Community Center is hosting a blood drive on Saturday, January 18 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Grand Ball Room at the Korean Community Center, 100 Grove Street in Tenafly.

Applications are open for young violinists (ages 13 - 18) to perform at a Master Class on Tuesday, February 18 at 7 pm featuring Tenafly's own Elli Choi, recently awarded third prize at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels, and winner of the World Monaco Violin Competition at age 15. Elli will coach up-and-coming violinists, perform a brief selection, and there will be time for a Q&A. Contact PCAT music director Jim Millar at dirmusic@tenaflypresby.org for details.

It is Scottish Night at the Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 25 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A family-friendly evening of singing, dancing, bagpiping, poetry and a buffet of tastes of Scottish food in honor of Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns.
