Rockaway Woman Charged With Insurance Fraud

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announces the arrest of Ms. Christie Reyes, 37 years-old from Rockaway, New Jersey. Ms. Reyes was arrested on January 14, 2025, after an investigation conducted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Insurance Fraud Unit. Ms. Reyes is charged with one count of third-degree Insurance Fraud.

On January 11, 2024, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office received a report that Ms. Reyes provided false information in furtherance of obtaining insurance coverage for her motor vehicle. The investigation revealed that Ms. Reyes attempted to receive reimbursement for a previous theft of the vehicle after she obtained coverage.

The sentencing exposure on third degree Insurance Fraud is three to five years in New Jersey State Prison.

Ms. Reyes was processed and released and will be appearing in Central Judicial Processing Court within two weeks.

The complaint is merely an accusation. Despite the accusation, defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
