In High School sports news, congratulations to Junior Troy Knause who scored his 100th career point in Ice Hockey this week. Boys Basketball moved to 10-1 on the season and are currently ranked 9th in Bergen County. Girls swimming is 7-1 and Boys swimming is 6-2, with both teams leading their respective divisions. And, our Varsity Boys Ski team took first in the slalom in their most recent meet.
This Saturday, January 25 at 11:00 am the Nature Center is pleased to partner with the Senior Center for World Beneath Our Feet, the next in a 10-session series of programs at TNC that's just right for seniors. Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy a fun and interesting presentation and time to socialize and connect with other adult participants. Register in person at the Senior Center.
It is Scottish Night at the Presbyterian Church this Saturday, January 25 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A family-friendly evening of singing, dancing, bagpiping, poetry and a buffet of tastes of Scottish food in honor of Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns. This Sunday, January 26, join the Classic V Woodwind Quintet and Tenafly’s own Metropolitan Opera baritone, John Hancock, for a family concert performance of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. The free program takes place at 3:00 pm at Church of the Atonement, 97 Highwood Avenue. Peter’s adventure has been enchanting music lovers young and old (but especially young) for almost a century. It’s the perfect way to introduce kids to the fun of classical music. Come for great music, a timeless story, and cookies and cocoa too.
On Sunday, January 26 at the Nature Center adults and children of all ages can enjoy Maple Sugaring at either 11:30 am or 1:00 pm. Learn how to identify a maple tree. Discover the history of syrup making and how technology has changed the way sap has been gathered over the centuries. Register for this and more at tenaflynaturecenter.org.
The KCC Art Gallery is hosting its Pachappa Camp exhibition now through February 15 at the KCC presenting the history of Korean immigration and the first Koreatown in the United States.

Stand Up for the Arts at the Kaplen JCC. Saturday, February 8 at 7 pm. Doors open at 6 pm. Applications are open for young violinists (ages 13 to 18) to perform at a Master Class on Tuesday, February 18 at 7 pm featuring Tenafly's own Elli Choi, recently awarded third prize at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels, and winner of the World Monaco Violin Competition at age 15.
