The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Union City Police Department are investigating the death of a male that occurred on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
At approximately 11 a.m., the Union City Police Department was notified of an unresponsive male behind a building on 23rd Street. Responding officer located a lifeless male – later identified as Reynaldo Gonzalez, 56 – and he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 11:30 a.m.
On Wednesday, November 26, 2024, the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of Death to be Complications of Blunt Force Injuries and the Manner to be Homicide. Following the Medical Examiner’s report, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit formally assumed control of the investigation.
This investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.
