Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Englewood Shooting

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 61-year-old TYRONE A. PRIOLEAU of Englewood, NJ on charges of attempted murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, certain persons not to possess firearms, aggravated assault, and obstruction. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Thomas Greeley.

On Friday, January 31, 2025, at approximately 1:28 pm, the Englewood Police Department responded to a disturbance involving a man with a gun at a private residence on Knickerbocker Road in Englewood, NJ. Upon arrival, officers determined that the armed man fled the scene after he discharged a firearm inside the home. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit was notified, responded, and initiated a joint investigation with the Englewood Police Department. The investigation revealed that TYRONE A. PRIOLEAU possessed a firearm and fired it in the direction of two victims while inside the residence. The two victims were not struck, and no injuries were reported.

As a result of the investigation, on Friday, January 31, 2024, TYRONE A. PRIOLEAU was charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1a(1)/2C:11-3a(1); second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1); second-degree certain persons not to carry a firearm, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7b(1); two counts of fourth-degree aggravated assault by pointing a firearm, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(4); and fourth-degree obstructing the administration of law, N.J.S.A. 2C:29-1a.

On Thursday, February 6, 2025, the Englewood Police Department located TYRONE A. PRIOLEAU in Englewood, NJ and placed him under arrest. PRIOLEAU was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely an accusation, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella would like to thank the Englewood Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
