1/1/2025 1:26 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
A 911 caller reported a physical altercation in a West Passaic Street hotel room. Upon patrol arrival a female with blood on her shirt was located in the lobby. The victim stated to police that her husband slammed her head on a toilet. Officers responded to the 5th floor and located a 51-year-old male from Staten Island. The male was found lying on a bathroom floor. After a short struggle he was arrested and committed to a medical facility due to a high intoxication level. A summons for simple assault was served.

1/1/2025 8:52 PM, (Breach of Peace)
A caller reported her husband locked her out of a Central Avenue residence. Patrol located the involved parties and found it to be an argument over infidelity. Each party agreed to sleep in separate rooms for the evening.

1/2/2025 7:47 PM (Welfare Check)
A passing motorist reported a male party laying on the ground in front of an Essex Street convenience store. Patrol located a 44-year-old male from Newark, who reported head pain. An ambulance from HUMC was summoned and transported the patient.

1/3/2025 1:44 AM, (Breach of Peace)
A caller reported a dispute between a male and female. The male suspect located his ex-girlfriend at a Passaic Street hotel, and refused to leave. Patrol checked for active protection orders and offered protection to the victim. No action was requested and the male was escorted from the scene.

1/4/2025 12:01 AM, (Breach of Peace / Customer Dispute)
A West Passaic Street Mexican restaurant reported a customer refused to pay a $200 bill. The accused reported his employer never replenished his debit card and wanted to pay the bill tomorrow. Patrol explained how the theft of services charge reads and negotiated a compromise with management. The restaurant staff agreed to wait until the following day before signing complaints.

1/6/2025 12:50 PM, (Package Theft)
A resident of Terrace Avenue reported an iPhone was delivered at 9:15 AM. At 11:43 AM a male exits a Ford Expedition and steals the package from the doorstep. The theft was captured on a doorbell camera. Detectives broadcast the actors’ image on information sharing sites, the investigation is ongoing.

1/6/2025 12:54 PM, (Arrest – Adult)
A random license plate check of a Pennsylvania plate returned not on file. A motor vehicle stop ensued on West Passaic Street. The driver, a 37-year-old male from Paterson, could not produce a license, registration, or insurance card. A Pennsylvania identification was eventually produced with the driver’s picture embossed on the card. A computer check returned to a different person. The driver was arrested, charged with possession of a false government document, issued several summonses, and released.

1/7/2025 5:05 PM, (Attempted Burglary to Auto)
A caller from North Drive reported a male exited a white sedan and attempted to enter his parked vehicle. Entry was not made, and the suspects fled. Surveillance footage was turned over to detectives and a police broadcast was distributed.

1/8/2025 1:50 AM, (Unwanted Person)
Security from a Passaic Street supermarket reported a known shoplifter was confronted and refused to leave the store. Officers contacted a 45-year-old male from Englewood, and advised that since he shoplifted at another store owned by the same company, he is not welcome in the current store. The subject complied and was escorted from the store.

1/8/2025 5:06 PM, (Counterfeit Currency)
An Essex Street sandwich shop reported two parties attempted to pay for goods with counterfeit bills. The first suspect, a male, entered the store, ordered approximately $15 worth of food and paid with a $100 bill. Shortly after the transaction, an employee realized the bill was fraudulent. A second suspect, a female, entered and attempted the same transaction. The employee recognized the fake bill and the suspect fled the store. Detectives identified the vehicle and are investigating the renters of this vehicle.

1/8/2025 5:58 PM, (Suspicious Occurrence)
A resident of Somerville street reported observing an unknown female sitting in a vehicle near her home. The female was holding a baby on her lap. Shortly after this observation, the resident observed a diaper with human feces inside, on her front lawn. Doorbell camera footage revealed the same female inside the vehicle was responsible for the diaper and two empty coffee cups. No vehicle registration was visible.

1/10/2025 9:38 AM, (Aided)
A Life Alert alarm was triggered from a Howard Avenue home. The resident had fallen and could not get up. Patrol responded and could not make entry through the front door. A rear window was found unlocked and a patrolman climbed through the window, located the female resident, and lifted her into a chair.

1/10/2025 3:41 PM, (Breach of Peace)
A caller reported a dispute between a passenger and ride share driver at a Route 17 North gas station. The passenger requested the music turned off and the driver took offense to that request. The driver then requested the passenger exit the vehicle and the passenger refused. Responding patrol units settled the dispute and removed the female passenger from the vehicle.

1/11/2025 6:47 AM, (Breach of Peace)
A resident of Cedar Drive reported screams in the area. Patrol responded and located a female resident of Cedar Drive. The resident reported recently purchasing coffee, however, when she returned home she slipped on ice and spilled the coffee which led to the loud screams. All was in order.

1/13/2025 2:28 PM, (Theft)
The owner of an Overlook Avenue business reported missing shipments. An online order of 250 laptops was placed, however, only 215 arrived. The complainant was unsure if the packages were stolen or simply not delivered. Detectives are monitoring the case and will receive updates from the seller.

1/13/2025 9:02 PM, (Unwanted Person)
Hotel Staff from a West Passaic Street business refused service to a customer and the customer refused to leave. Upon arrival, patrol learned that the customers, a 27-year-old male from Elmwood Park and a 58-year-old male from Saddle Brook, upset neighboring rooms during their stay. The men were reported to be too loud and their stay was not being extended. After a short negotiation they agreed to choose another hotel.

1/14/2024 1:56 AM, (Commitment - ATRA)
A 911 caller reported a male party throwing objects in a Central Avenue residence. Responding units located a heavily intoxicated 49-year-old male. No physical contact was made and the male was committed to a local facility due to his excessive alcohol consumption.

1/14/2025 10:23 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
A complainant from a Route 17 business reported a 10-foot snow plow was stolen from a vehicle. Officers reviewed surveillance footage and revealed that the vehicle in question was not parked on site during the reported theft. After a brief investigation, detectives learned that the plow was actually stolen in Paterson. The original complainant was arrested and charged with falsifying a police report.

1/14/2025 11:20 PM, (Suspicious Person / Ordinance Violation)
Patrol located a male party in a Passaic Street restaurant parking lot. The male was urinating in public view of a nearby hotel. The male, a 35-year-old employee of the restaurant, was issued an ordinance violation for public urination.

In addition, (12) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (114) motor vehicle stops were conducted in a 14-day span.


A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
