12/16/2024 2:27 AM, (Noise Complaint)
A resident of Powell Avenue reported vehicles revving their engines in a nearby parking lot. Patrol located a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette and advised the owner of the noise ordinance.

12/16/2024 11:45 PM, (Theft - Arrest)
A resident of Elmwood Park responded to headquarters to report his cell phone stolen from a Route 17 Social Services office. Officers found the phone to be pinging inside a residence in New Milford. New Milford Police responded to the residence and recovered the stolen property. A review of surveillance footage revealed that the person who turned over the phone was the same person who removed it from a desk. A 40-year-old male from New Milford was charged with Theft of Mislaid Property and a court date was assigned.

12/16/2024 9:56 PM (Arrest - Adult)
A Patrol Officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 17. The vehicle in question, displayed Pennsylvania registration tags, and a heavily damaged front windshield. The female driver did not possess identification and was found to provide a false identity. The vehicle was unregistered and uninsured. A 28-year- old female from Philadelphia was issued several summonses, arrested, and charged with Hindering.

12/17/2024 6:31 PM, (Breach of Peace)
A caller reported two daughters fighting with their mother on the front lawn of a Williams Street residence. Responding officers located a 51-year-old female and her juvenile daughter. The dispute was settled and the juvenile returned inside while an ambulance was summoned for a female participant.

12/18/2024 12:56 PM, (Commitment Voluntary)
A 46-year-old Fair Lawn resident walked in to headquarters and requested transport to a hospital to acquire a mental health evaluation. HUMC BLS transported the patient to a local facility.

12/19/2024 4:30 PM, (Commitment - Involuntary)
A caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked in front of her house on Pleasant Avenue. Patrol located the vehicle and a 37-year-old male resident inside. The male reported having suicidal thoughts and was promptly transported to a medical facility.

12/20/2024 1:02 PM, (Fraud)
An employee from a West Passaic Street insurance company reported a fraud that a former employee was responsible for. The employee logged into department online accounts and cut off customers access to websites. No financial losses were reported and detectives were advised.

12/20/2024 1:43 PM, (Theft - Shoplifting)
Loss prevention officers from a West Passaic Street supermarket reported a shoplifter in custody. Patrol located a 26-year-old female from Bethlehem, Pa., and found that she failed to scan $139.74 worth of items at the self-checkout. Store security will pursue complaints and the female was released with the items she did scan and pay for.

12/21/2024 2:04 AM, (DWI - Arrest)
A patrol officer observed a vehicle travelling on Rochelle Avenue with heavy tinted windows. After an extended pause at a flashing yellow light, a motor vehicle stop ensued. The driver, a 25-year-old male from Garfield, possessed several open containers of alcohol inside the vehicle. Field Sobriety Tests were administered and failed by the driver. The driver was arrested and refused to provide breath samples. Several summonses were issued and the arrestee was released to a family member.

12/21/2024 9:37 PM, (Arrest - Adult)
A patrol officer stopped a vehicle on Essex Street with heavy tinted windows. The vehicle was found to be a rental. The driver, a 36-year-old male from Woodbridge, Va., was found to possess (2) New Jersey driver’s licenses in victims’ names. The party was placed under arrest and charged with Trafficking Personal Identifying Information. A court date was set upon release.

12/22/2024 12:19 AM, (DWI-Arrest)
A motor vehicle collision was reported in the area of Rochelle Avenue and Railroad Avenue. Responding Officers checked the vehicle occupants for injuries and began to investigate. One of the drivers, a 38-year-old female from Paterson, reported she "blacked out" prior to the collision. After detecting the odor of alcoholic beverages, field sobriety tests were conducted. The driver was ultimately arrested and refused to provide breath samples. Several summonses were issued and the arrestee was released to the care of a friend.

12/22/2024 12:25 PM, (Welfare Check)
An elderly female resident of Whittman Street reported issues with her boiler. The responding Officer confirmed her pilot light was still lit, installed duct tape around a window A/C unit to eliminate drafts, and changed a battery in a smoke detector. The resident was encouraged to call police if any heating issues persist.

12/24/2024 4:08 PM, (Shoplifting)
Loss prevention from a Passaic Street supermarket reported a female shoplifter in custody. Patrol located a 23-year-old female from Bloomfield, and found that she walked out of the store with $183.82 worth of groceries. A computer check revealed 2 open warrants out of Newark and East Orange. The warrants were under the established $500 bail amounts that are enforceable under New Jersey standards. The offender was released with complaints pending from the merchant.

12/24/2024 4:29 AM, (Harassment)
A resident of North Drive reported a dispute with another resident of the same street. The dispute occurred at a West Passaic Street supermarket. The complainant stated that the other party said, "If you walk past my house I will kill you and your family, crackhead". After the neighborly exchange, both parties went separate ways. No audio of the incident was reported and the civilian complaint process was explained.

12/25/2024 7:43 PM, (Commitment)
A West Passaic Street restaurant reported a patron is highly intoxicated and has fallen on multiple occasions. A male resident of Forest Place was located in the bar section of the restaurant. After extensive conversations, the male was transported to a local hospital.

12/28/2024 9:14 PM, (Suspicious Person)
Patrol received a report of a female wearing pajama pants and flip flops, approaching vehicles in the parking lot of a West Passaic Street supermarket. Patrol located the female inside of the store. She refused to provide identification and agreed to leave the area. Loss Prevention reported that she was not causing a disturbance.

12/29/2024 8:36 PM, (Suspicious Occurrence)
A caller reported a tree on West Passaic Street lifted the sidewalk and is leaning towards a house and parked vehicle. The fire department and building department responded, as the tree began to lean on a house. No structural damage was found and a private contractor removed the tree.

12/31/2024 2:01 PM, (Harassment)
A female caller reported being yelled at by a "biker". The complainant, a female from Bogota, reported walking on the county park path when a bicyclist passed her group. The male bicyclist yelled, "Move over lard ass". The aggressive biker left prior to police arrival, and the report was documented.

12/31/2024 3:10 AM, (Suspicious Person)
A caller reported a male in the area of West Passaic St. and Berdan Street, urinating in public. A Lodi resident was located in the bushes near a Passaic Street apartment complex. The male claimed to be fixing his pants. The subject was explained the penalties for expectorating in public, and sent on his way.

In addition, (19) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (38) motor vehicle stops were conducted in a 16-day span.


A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
