The DPW reported a suspicious blue pickup truck picking up trash and scrap metal from the roadside. Patrol located the vehicle and driver on Howard Avenue. The 25-year-old male driver from Garfield was found to have a suspended license and the vehicle was unregistered / uninsured. Six summonses were issued and the vehicle was impounded.

Hackensack PD reported the phone of a suicidal party was pinging in the area of Schlosser Drive. A 61-year-old female from Ridgewood was located on Passaic Street. She was transported to a local hospital.
10/17/2024 5:28 PM (Breach of Peace)
The Code Enforcement Officer reported a black SUV cut him off on Terrace Avenue and stated, "I'll choke you out". The vehicle registration returned to a Chestnut Street resident. The resident claimed the complainant attempted to run him off the road. Each party was explained the civilian complaint process but did not wish to pursue charges.

Patrol located a male party playing an instrument in front of a West Passaic Street coffee shop. The male from New Brunswick was begging for money. He was issued an Township Ordinance summons for soliciting and sent on his way.
10/19/2024 8:29 PM, (Breach of Peace)
An Overlook Ave. pizzeria reported a customer purposely blocked a delivery vehicle. Responding officers met with a 48-year-old male resident of Paramus. The customer stated that his pizzas were never delivered so he parked behind the vehicle to rectify the situation. Officers found the customers vehicle to have an expired registration. The complainant was issued a summons and instructed to voice his concerns with the corporate office.
10/21/2024 5:31 PM, (Fraud)
A 60-year-old female resident of Madison Avenue reported someone hacked into her Facebook account. The actor utilized her account to post fake items for sale on the Marketplace. Friends of the victim, believing they were true items, sent money via Zelle, to a fraudulent account. Detectives were assigned.
10/22/2024 9:08 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
A breach of peace was reported inside a West Passaic Street hotel room. Police located the room in question and overheard a male and female arguing. Entry was made and the male, a 27-year-old from Paterson, provided a fake name and date of birth. No domestic violence violations were discovered; however, the male was arrested for obstruction. The couple was separated for the day.

Teaneck Police reported a 54-year-old female in their custody. The female possessed multiple outstanding warrants from Rochelle Park. Officers served the warrants for receiving stolen property, and delivered her to the Bergen County Jail.
10/23/2024 12:46 PM, (Robbery)
An employee of a West Passaic Street auto shop reported a customer did not pay for services. The customer required a new catalytic converter. Once the work was complete, the mechanic and customer went for a test drive. The customer claimed to smell smoke, and requested the mechanic get out to check. At this point an object was pushed into the mechanics' back and he was ordered out of the vehicle. The customer then fled without paying for the $1500 worth of repairs. Detectives were assigned.
10/23/2024 4:56 PM, (Theft)
A resident of East Passaic Street reported a credit card was stolen from his mailbox. The card was subsequently used at two different locations in Rochelle Park. A Ring doorbell video revealed the actor to be the same female arrested by Teaneck Police for open Rochelle Park theft warrants. New warrants were issued and sent to her temporary home in the Bergen County Jail.

A family member of a resident at 106 Terrace Avenue reported online thefts from her mother. The suspect, another family member, transferred funds from her elderly mothers' bank account. Detectives were assigned and consulted with a county legal advisor. The complainants were advised to seek civil action since the account was shared.
10/24/2024 5:53 PM, (Harassment)
A resident of Chestnut Avenue reported receiving threatening text messages. The messages stemmed from a spoofing app. The victim suspects the new girlfriend of her ex-boyfriend. Detectives were assigned.
10/25/2024 3:08 PM, (Unwanted Person)
A West Passaic St. hotel reported a guest overstayed his reservation and refused to leave. Patrol met with a male from Tennessee and negotiated his departure. The hotel staff offered to release his $501 bill in exchange for his checkout.
10/26/2024 10:00 PM, (DWI - Arrest)
A Patrol Officer observed a vehicle on West Passaic Street fail to maintain a lane. The driver a 60-year-old male resident of Hackensack, smell of alcoholic beverages, however he claimed to have consumed "2" beers. After failing field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested, and provided breath samples registering readings almost 3 times the legal limit. He was charged and committed to a local hospital.
10/27/2024 3:07 PM, (Breach of Peace)
Tenants of a Central Avenue residence reported a dispute. The downstairs tenant reported returning home to the middle finger of the upstairs tenant. An argument ensued and the upstairs tenant spit in the direction of her neighbor. The parties were separated and only wished to have the incident documented.
10/28/2024 2:29 AM, (Shoplifting)
Loss prevention from a Passaic Street supermarket reported a female party fled with a full cart of unpaid items. The suspect attempted to pay with a declined card, and then fled in a U-Haul van. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage.
10/31/2024 12:04 AM, (DWI- Arrest)
A patrol officer observed a red Honda travelling at a high rate of speed on Route 17. The vehicle proceeded to make several aggressive lane changes. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and several open cans of White Claw seltzers were observed. After failing field sobriety tests, the 32-year-old female driver from Lodi was arrested. Breath tests revealed readings almost twice the legal limit. Summonses were issued and the arrestee was released to a family member.
10/31/2024 8:47 AM, (Littering)
A resident of North Drive reported discovering litter on his front yard on multiple occasions. A check of home surveillance cameras revealed a neighbor from North Drive was the culprit. This activity occurred after a recent neighbor dispute. A special complaint summons for littering was issued to a 56-year-old male resident.
In addition, (28) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (106) motor vehicle stops were conducted in a 16-day span.
A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
