5/1/2024 11:13 AM, (Auto Theft Recovery - Arrest)
A patrol officer observed a Toyota SUV with New Hampshire plates on Route 17. The registration returned to a Mitsubishi SUV. A motor vehicle stop ensued and a full size Suzuki motorcycle was observed inside the SUV. A VIN check on the motorcycle revealed that it was reported stolen out of Philadelphia, PA. The driver, a 35-year-old male from Lawrence, MA, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property.

5/1/2024 6:03 PM, (Suspicious Person)
A caller reported a male party in front of a Passaic Street pizzeria, talking to himself and frightening customers. Responding patrol officers located a 48-year-old male, talking to himself inside the restaurant. The owner requested he is removed from the location and patrol was able to peacefully remove the male. He reportedly walked off while yelling profanities.

5/2/2024 2:08 PM (Fraud - Arrest)
A Rochelle Avenue bank manager reported a customer deposited (3) checks valued at approximately $15,000 into ATM machines. Prior to the checks returning as fraudulent, the customer withdrew the funds. The suspect utilized her true identification which assisted detectives in the investigation. The suspect, a 23-year-old female from Paterson was issued a criminal complaint for bad checks, a court date is pending.

5/2/2024 3:02 PM, (Theft / Fraud)
A resident of James Street reported to be a victim of a Bitcoin scam. The victim, a 79-year-old female was contact through her computer by a suspect claiming she was involved in an FBI investigation. She was then instructed to utilize a Bitcoin ATM to send $10,000 in digital currency. Detectives traced the transactions to a virtual wallet located outside of the U.S.. The victim was assisted in reporting the loss to her financial institution.

5/3/2024 12:18 PM, (Breach of Peace - Commitment)
A Township employee reported a male in the gazebo making offensive comments. Patrol located the same 48-year-old male from 5/1. He continued to make irrational statements, and was committed to a local hospital.

5/4/2024 6:16 PM, (Criminal Mischief)
A caller reported damage to the playground area of Carlock Field. Patrol located a missing swing chain and a section of the playground turf was pulled apart. Detectives reviewed surveillance footage and patrol conducted extra park checks. DPW employees were also advised of the damage.

5/5/2024 1:35 AM, (Narcotics Arrest)
A patrol officer observed suspicious activity in the parking lot of a Rochelle Avenue convenience store. A check on a male party revealed him to be a wanted person out of Fair Lawn. The 29-year-old male from North Haledon was arrested and additionally found to possess crack cocaine and heroin drug paraphernalia. The suspect was charged and turned over to Fair Lawn Police.

5/6/2024 11:37 AM, (Violation of Court Order)
A resident of Hahn Ave. reported that a party he has a no contact order against just contacted him. A video was sent to the victim via TikTok, thus violating the existing order. Officers signed a contempt of court complaint against the suspect, notified him, and mailed the summons.

5/7/2024 2:57 PM, (DWI - Arrest)
The SRO reported a motor vehicle collision in front of Midland School. Responding units located a single car accident into a tree. The driver, a 58-year-old Ridgewood resident subsequently failed field sobriety tests. Suspecting narcotic impairment, a Drug Recognition Expert performed an evaluation and the driver consent to submitting blood samples. The driver was charged with DWI, along with several other motor vehicle infractions. Blood test results are pending.

5/7/2024 7:19 PM, (Theft/Fraud - Arrest)
A customer of a Route 17 dispensary left his debit card in a chip reader. The following customer at the same register made a cash transaction and left the store. An employee noticed the card and believed the cash paying customer left it behind. The customer accepted the card knowing it was not his and then proceeded to make a purchase at a nearby gas station and several further attempts at a Hackensack department store. Officers utilized surveillance to identify the 22-year-old male suspect from Teaneck. He responded to headquarters where he was charged with credit card theft, identity theft, and tampering with evidence. He was released with a future court date.

5/8/2024 9:43 PM, (DWI - Arrest)
Headquarters received a report of a 3-car collision on Rochelle Ave. near Plaza Way. Responding officers learned that the passenger of an involved vehicle fled on foot. Maywood PD located the fleeing party and he was arrested for C.D.S. possession. The driver of the same vehicle, a 22-year-old from Hillsdale, was arrested on suspicion of DWI and narcotics possession, he was committed to a local hospital due to his intoxication level. Minor injuries were reported.

5/10/2024 4:38 PM, (Breach of Peace)
Police received a report of a dispute with a tow truck driver at a West Passaic Street supermarket. Responding officers located a tow truck attempting to repossess a vehicle that was occupied by two individuals. Officers convinced the "repo man" to lower the vehicle and attempt to take custody of the vehicle at a later date.

5/10/2024 8:05 AM, (Sex Offenses - Arrest)
RPPD detectives conducted a sexual assault investigation in conjunction with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office. At the conclusion of the investigation a 45- year-old male resident was arrested and charged with sexual assault, he was committed to the Bergen County Jail.

5/10/2024 12:17 PM, (Commitment - Involuntary)
A caller reported a breach of peace on Central Avenue. Responding units located a female resident who was highly intoxicated. A 262-help screener was contacted and requested a commitment.

5/11/2024 4:06 PM, (Harassment)
A resident of Crescent St. reported an ex-girlfriend hacked into his social media accounts and email. The victim was offered a restraining order but declined to pursue one. The victim was requested to produce print outs of the communication for a subsequent investigation.

5/11/2024 7:58 PM, (Juvenile Complaint)
A caller reported a dispute amongst juvenile bike riders. Officers located the juveniles and issued a curbside warning. The caller was contacted and the officers explained their findings.

5/12/2024 3:15 AM, (DWI - Arrest)
A patrol officer observed several vehicle infractions in the area of Essex Street. The driver quickly pulled behind a business and exited the vehicle. The officer approached and the driver, a 35-year-old male from Hackensack, refused to provide his license, registration, and insurance. He proceeded to refuse to be subjected to field sobriety tests. The driver was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving and he again issued a refusal, this time to submit samples of his breath. Several summonses were issued and the subject was charged for obstruction.

5/12/2024 3:19 AM, (Breach of Peace - Assault)
A 911 hang up was received in the area of a West Passaic Street hotel. Responding patrol was directed to a male in a wheelchair who reported being struck in the head. The actor fled the scene prior to police arrival. Officers explained the civilian complaint process since the assault was not witnessed by police.

5/12/2024 10:21 PM, (Narcotics - Arrest)
A patrol officer initiated a motor vehicle stop on Passaic Street. The driver, a 26- year-old male from Paterson, was found to have an open NCIC warrant for narcotics offenses. He was arrested on the Passaic County warrant and additionally found to possess non-prescribed oxycodone. The arrestee was charged and turned over to Passaic County Sheriffs.

5/12/2024 10:45 PM, (Breach of Peace)
A caller from Lexington Avenue reported a family member in a mental health crisis. The patient was damaging contents of the home due to refusing to take his medication. Patrol responded, calmed down the party, consulted with 262-HELP, and acquired a commitment.

5/14/2024 6:39 AM, (Suspicious Person)
A Rochelle Avenue business stated a male party is standing outside begging for money. Patrol located a 32-year-old male, previously known to police, advised him of soliciting ordinances and sent him on his way.

5/14/2024 1:46 PM, (Narcotics - Arrest)
Patrol was summoned to a West Passaic Street hotel for (2) parties refusing to vacate their room. Patrol spoke to the occupants, a 31-year-old female from Scotch Plains and a 31-year-old male from New York, and negotiated their departure. In the process, narcotics were observed in plain view. Each was charged and released, the male was turned over to Elizabeth PD to answer for an open warrant.

In addition, (22) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (90) motor vehicle stops were conducted in a 14-day span.


A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
