2/16/2024 8:01 AM, (Commitment)
A West Passaic Street hotel reported an unwanted party. Patrol met a 40-year-old male from Paterson and requested he vacate the hotel. The male complied, however he began to walk onto the Garden State Parkway. Patrol Officers followed him, and he proceeded to walk through traffic on Paramus Road and Route 4 West. Fearing for his wellbeing, officers pursued him on foot into Paterson, where he was eventually subdued and committed to a local hospital.

2/16/2024 8:12 AM, (Breach of Peace)
A 911 caller reported a male party was struck in the head with a metal object. Responding officers found two cooks from a Rochelle Avenue deli engaged in a verbal dispute which ended when one cook struck the other with a metal kitchen tray. One party went to a local hospital with a head injury. Civilian complaints are possible.

2/16/2024 8:28 PM (Breach of Peace)
A caller from Chestnut Street reported his adult sister was cutting her hair and burning it. Patrol Officers responded, summoned 262-HELP, and committed the party to a local hospital.

2/18/2024 7:11 AM, (DWI Arrest - Adult)
A caller reported an unknown vehicle struck a garage on Central Avenue. Responding patrol units located an incoherent male behind the wheel of a 2009 Honda. The interior of the vehicle smelled of burnt marijuana and alcohol. The driver, a 31-year-old male resident, failed field sobriety tests, was arrested, and refused to submit samples of his breath for testing. Several summonses, included DWI and refusal to submit to breath tests, were issued, the driver was released to a friend.

2/18/2024 1:29 PM, (Burglary to Auto)
A customer of a Route 17 dispensary reported his vehicle was entered and a laptop was stolen. The alleged theft occurred on 2/17 at approximately 6:00 PM. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage in attempts to identify the actor.

2/20/2024 8:37 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
Loss prevention from a West Passaic Street supermarket reported a shoplifter in custody. The suspect, a 26-year-old male from Fair Lawn, attempted to walk out of the store with almost $800 worth of merchandise. The suspect then provided a false date of birth to responding officers, which added an obstruction charge on top of the shoplifting. The shoplifter was banned from the store, arrested, and released with a court date.

2/20/2024 11:52 AM, (Burglary to Auto)
A resident of Becker Avenue reported an unknown male wearing a grey hooded sweat suit entered her fathers' Range Rover. The vehicle was left unlocked, and the suspect likely intended to steal the vehicle, however, the key fob was not left inside. No proceeds were reported.

2/21/2024 1:25 PM, (Fraud)
A West Passaic Street Law Firm was issued a check in excess of $145,000. The check was to be deposited into a trust account, however, it returned as fraudulent. Detectives were assigned to the case and are working with bank fraud departments.

2/23/2024 3:08 PM, (Commitment)
A caller reported a male party walking down the center of Route 17 South. Patrol responded and located a 67-year-old male from Newark, walking on the shoulder. The male was found to be highly intoxicated, unable to provide his name or date of birth. An ambulance was summoned and the party was committed to a local hospital.

2/23/2024 4:05 PM, (Narcotics - Arrest)
A patrol officer conducted a motor vehicle stop of a Honda Pilot with faulty brake lights. The driver, a 54-year-old male from Plainfield, was found to possess open traffic warrants. In plain view inside the vehicle was drug paraphernalia, including glass pipes. The driver was arrested, charged, and released, as Newark Police set a new court date for the open warrants.

2/23/2024 5:50 PM, (Theft)
An Essex Street motorcycle dealership reported three males just fled the store with leather jackets. The suspect vehicle became stuck in Essex Street traffic, where they were tracked down by store employees. The employees recovered 2 of the 3 stolen jackets. Detectives acquired a vehicle registration and are working to identify the actors.

2/24/2024 11:58 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
The security officer from a Route 17 dispensary reported a dispute in the parking lot. Responding officers learned that an employee of the business requested a customer not smoke on the premise. The customer refused and an assault took place. A 28-year-old Ridgefield Park resident was arrested and charged with simple assault.

2/28/2024 9:13 PM, (Breach of Peace)
Two females were reported to be arguing in the municipal parking lot, possibly stemming from a Township meeting. Patrol arrived and found that all parties left the area prior to arrival.

In addition, (15) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (116) motor vehicle stops were conducted in a 14-day span.


A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
