9/18/2023 2:00 PM, (Shoplifting)
Management from a Rochelle Avenue pharmacy reported a shoplifting that occurred in the past. A male suspect stole $350 worth of baby products and pain relievers. Management provided detectives with a vehicle registration which led them to the registered owners' nephew. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

9/18/2023 3:07 PM, (Commitment)
An Essex Street property owner reported a suspicious vehicle parked in his lot. Responding officers located a male sleeping in the vehicle. The male was awoken and stated to officers that he broke his heel, his wife divorced him, and he could not see his son. Officers convinced the 33-year-old male from Dix Hills, NY, to speak with a screener. He was voluntarily committed to a nearby hospital.

9/18/2023 7:37 PM, (Vehicle Burglary)
A customer of a Rochelle Avenue pharmacy reported a male party entered his vehicle. The suspect entered and exited without stealing anything. The suspect possibly had intentions of the stealing the vehicle, a Tesla, however the key fob was not inside. Detectives were provided with surveillance video.

9/19/2023 8:37 PM, (Breach of Peace)
A resident reported a male party exited a white vehicle on Pleasant Avenue, and began yelling and screaming. Responding patrol located a boyfriend and girlfriend from West Orange and Fair Lawn, engaged in a verbal dispute. Each party agreed to go separate ways, however, the girlfriend only possessed a learners' permit, and the vehicle was registered to her mother. The girlfriend did not want her boyfriend driving the vehicle, in turn, two ride share services were called.

9/20/2023 10:20 PM, (Narcotics - Arrest)
A patrol officer located a minivan in the area of Passaic Street and Paramus Road, displaying temporary Tennessee license plates. The vehicle had dark tinted front windows. A motor vehicle stop ensued and the driver, a 27 year old male from Paterson, was found to have an outstanding traffic warrant from Passaic. The driver was arrested and a search incident to arrest turned up (15) baggies of suspected crack cocaine, packaged for sale. The driver was charged with Possession of C.D.S. with the intent to distribute, and committed to the Bergen County Jail.

9/21/2023 12:27 PM, (Arrest - Adult)
Police were called to Railroad Avenue for a disorderly person. A 57-year-old male resident was cursing and making obscene hand gestures. After several warnings he was arrested, charged with disorderly conduct, and released.

9/22/2023 7:21 PM, (Juvenile Complaint)
A juvenile caller reported someone stole her brothers' sneakers at Carlock Field. The patrol response elicited a juvenile female to return the "Jordan" sneakers to the rightful owner. Curbside warnings issued to the juveniles.

9/24/2023 11:52 AM, (Violation of Local Ordinance)
A resident reported a male party soliciting door to door for home repairs. Patrol located the male, a 33-year-old from Springfield, who was previously warned of the Township Ordinance. He was issued a summons and released.

9/24/2023 1:24 PM, (Breach of Peace)
A Parkway medical facility reported an irate family member of a patient. Patrol arrived on scene and located the male, a 36-year-old male from Palisades Park. The family member was looking for his mothers' nurse, and began to film his search with a cell phone. During the course of his search, he located a group of nurses, ‘hiding" in an attempt to avoid his search. Officers checked the male for warrants, calmed him down, and escorted him from the premise.

9/24/2023 7:05 PM, (Harassment)
A resident of Teaneck walked in to headquarters to report harassment at the hands of an ex-girlfriend. The male stated that he receives phone calls which consist of "heavy breathing." The victim was explained his domestic violence rights and did not wish to pursue any further action. Officers spoke with the actor, a female resident, and warned her of potential domestic violence complaints.

9/25/2023 8:01 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
A patrol officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on a Honda CRV bearing a temporary Georgia registration. During the course of the stop the officer was presented with a fraudulent insurance card and the plate was also found to be fake. The driver, a 27-year-old male from New York, was arrested and charged with exhibiting false government documents.

9/25/2023 3:28 PM (Arrest - Adult)
An alert was issued from surrounding agencies reported a grey Nissan traveling on the shoulder of Route 17 North. The vehicle was missing a front plate and had heavy damage to the body. An alert officer observed the vehicle and conducted a stop. The driver was found to have a suspended license and a large amount of stolen clothing. Investigating officers found a parking receipt, 15 minutes in the past, from the American Dream Mall, and a pair of wire cutters. The subject, a 23-year-old male from Newark, was arrested for receiving stolen property and possession of burglary tools. The clothing was found to belong to Zara, Nike, Footlocker, and Versace.

9/26/2023 2:48 PM (Juvenile Complaint)
The manager of a Rochelle Avenue pharmacy report two teens inside the store are intimidating her. The complainant reported a prior encounter with the two juvenile residents aged 14 and 17. One was looking at her with an "angry stern face". Patrol spoke to the juveniles and they agreed to leave the store.

9/29/2023 9:29 AM (Fraud)
A resident of Thiem Avenue reported being the victim of a scam. She reported receiving a letter from what she believed to be Walmart. She was offered $400 to take part in a series of surveys. Shortly after agreeing via telephone, she was sent (3) checks totaling just under $9,000. She was instructed to purchase gift cards and return the card numbers to the caller. The gift cards totaling $8,850 were used and the victim learned the checks were fraudulent. Detectives were assigned.

9/29/2023 2:45 PM (Burglary)
Several tenants of a Route 17 Storage Facility reported burglary and thefts to their units. Detectives reviewed surveillance, located the actor, and developed a suspect. Updates to follow once formal charges are issued.

9/29/2023 4:14 PM (Fraud)
An employee of a West Passaic Street construction company reported a recently hired sub-contractor was paid via check. This same party is believed to have "washed" the check and re-deposited it on (4) different occasions, totaling approximately $6,400. Detectives are investigating a 33-year-old male suspect.

10/1/2023 8:28 AM (Harassment)
A resident of Catherine Street reported her phone number was spoofed. The suspect is sending threatening text messages to her contacts. A report was taken to document the activity.

10/2/2023 12:39 PM (Found Property)
An employee of a storage facility reported locating a backpack with approximately 1 pound of marijuana inside. The marijuana, found behind a Route 17 dispensary, did not belong to the business. Officers secured the item and reviewed surveillance cameras.

In addition, (15) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (96) motor vehicle stops were conducted in a 14-day span.


A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
