1/4/2023 2:46 PM, (Property Damage)
A resident of Central Avenue reported a Honda SUV drove off the road, over the curb, and onto her walkway. Damage to a Christmas decoration occurred. The resident did not believe the event to be intentional and only requested documentation.

1/5/2023 9:05 AM, (Animal Complaint)
A Route 17 Car Dealership reported an injured rabbit in the used car lot. Patrol dispatched animal control to tend to the bunny.

1/5/2023 2:22 PM, (Parking Complaint)
Patrol located a vehicle parked in the fire zone of a West Passaic Street supermarket. The officer additionally located a 9-year-old juvenile in the back seat of the vehicle. The parent was located and issued a summons, the juvenile was in good health.

1/6/2023 2:04 AM, (Burglary to Auto)
Patrol was called to the area of Lexington Avenue for a report of (2) black males wearing hoodies, carrying flashlights, and peering into vehicles. The actors fled prior to police arrival and several vehicles in the area were found to be entered. All burglarized vehicles were left UNLOCKED. Detectives are reviewing home surveillance systems. Police warn all residents to lock their vehicles and remove key fobs.

1/6/2023 2:15 PM, (Arrest Adult)
Patrol conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Essex Street. The vehicle displayed an expired Georgia temporary license plate. The driver was unable to provide identification or documentation for the vehicle. He provided a fake name and date of birth, and was taken into custody for hindering. The subject, a 26-year-old male from Paterson, was charged and issued 6 motor vehicle summonses.

1/7/2023 4:04 PM, (Burglary)
A tenant of a Route 17 Storage facility reported he left his unit unlocked and returned a week later to find some of the contents were stolen. The victim reported electronic devices and personal documents were stolen. Detectives are reviewing surveillance videos and keycode entries in order to identify the actor(s).

1/7/2023 9:01 PM, (Arrest Adult)
Loss Prevention from a West Passaic Street supermarket reported a shoplifter in custody. Responding patrol officers attempted to identify the actor and he provided a false name. The suspects' true identity was acquired and he was found to have a full extradition warrant issued by the Broward County Sheriff's Office of Florida. The subject, a 26-year-old male from Palm Beach, Florida, was charged with hindering, shoplifting, and committed to the Bergen County Jail.

1/8/2023 3:37 AM, (Breach of Peace)
Patrol was dispatched to a West Passaic Street hotel for a report of two people arguing in a vehicle. The female party, a patron of the hotel, refused to exit the vehicle without an apology from the male driver. Police negotiated a compromise and the two parties went separate ways for the night.

1/8/2023 10:58 AM, (Breach of Peace)
Patrol was dispatched to the lobby of a West Passaic Street hotel for an irate party. The 35-year-old male subject and his family were arguing with management. The complainant located drug paraphernalia in his room, specifically a "crack pipe", and requested a refund. Front desk employees provided contact information for hotel management and the complainant was satisfied.

1/8/2023 11:27 PM, (Breach of Peace)
An employee of a West Passaic Street supermarket reported a male party eating items directly off the shelves. Loss Prevention declined to sign complaints, and the 33-year-old "consumer", from Brooklyn, was banned from the store.

1/9/2023 1:45 AM, (Weapons Offense)
A West Passaic Street supermarket reported (3) black male subjects creating a disturbance inside the store, and filming their harassment of patrons and employees. The actors fled in a white Mercedes prior to police arrival. A review of surveillance footage revealed one of the actors assaulted an employee and brandished a knife. Days later, the suspects posted their video to YouTube, which enabled detectives to identify them and issue warrants for their arrest. One of the assailants is currently wanted on a criminal arrest warrant.

1/9/2023 6:53 AM, (Arrest Adult)
A West Passaic Street hotel clerk reported an unwanted party. Upon police arrival the male party fled the hotel on foot. A short time later the male returned to the hotel and led police on several foot pursuits throughout the hallways of the hotel. He was eventually located on the 3rd floor and charged at an officer. The male, a 20-year-old from Teaneck, was subdued and committed to a local hospital for evaluation. He was additionally charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and terroristic threats.

1/9/2023 6:34 PM, (Arrest Adult)
A Thiem Avenue resident reported a physical dispute among household members. Patrol responded, found injuries to one of the residents, and arrested the 66-yearold male actor. The arrestee was committed to the Bergen County Jail, and he was issued a Temporary Restraining Order.

1/10/2023 1:55 PM, (Suspicious Occurrence, Theft)
A Rochelle Avenue salon reported a male party entered, and began to ask out of the ordinary questions, such as, "are my pants too tight?". He then began to try on women's coats and left wearing one, while also leaving behind his coat with a debit card inside. Detectives are working to locate the male and the stolen property.


A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
