On Friday, February 21, 2025, the Honorable Nesle Rodriguez sentenced a Jersey City man to 18 years in New Jersey State Prison for his role in a fatal stabbing that occurred at a Light Rail station in 2022.
Anthony Bell, 40, pled guilty to one count of Aggravated Manslaughter on September 18, 2024. The sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act and 85% of the prison time must be served before becoming eligible for parole. The State was represented in this matter by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Nicole Ghezzar.
On Friday, January 28, 2022, at approximately 11:37 p.m., police were notified of an injured person on the platform of the Danforth Avenue Light Rail Station. Responding officers found a male – later identified as Kenneth Brown, 49, of Jersey City – with an apparent stab wound to his upper body. He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 12:34 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022.
