Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

Everyone, especially Seniors, please protect yourself from phone scams, do not give out your personal or financial information in response to a request that you did not expect. Never share your banking details, Social Security or Medicare number, or other personal information with anyone you do not know and trust. Resist the pressure to act immediately—stop and talk to someone you trust about what happened—talking about it could help you realize it is a scam. Scams can be reported to the Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftc.gov/

The early bird discount to join the Tenafly Municipal Pool ends today, March 14, so sign up now. Free children's group swim lessons for members; fun summer swim team for ages 5 to 17; and special events throughout the summer. For details visit: tenaflynj.org/pool

The Tenafly Library Friends will be presenting another great concert this Sunday, March 16 at 2:00 pm in the library. This free concert will feature performers, Suh Yeon Oh on violin and Brock Bishop on piano who will entertain us with a program of classical favorites. Come and enjoy the beautiful music!

Enjoy a weekend full of exciting programs at Nature Center! This Saturday, March 15, families with children ages 3-7 can enjoy a nature-themed story at 10:00 am followed by a visit from one of TNC’s Animal Ambassadors. Meet animals like snakes, frogs, turtles, owls, or hawks and learn about their journey to the Nature Center. Later in the day at 1:00 pm, adults and families with children ages 5 and up can explore the mysteries of nocturnal raptors in our "Who Goes Who" program. Get up close to our resident owl and learn about their adaptations through hands-on activities like owl pellet dissection.

This Sunday, March 16 is the final weekend to discover how to identify a maple tree and learn about the history of syrup making at the Nature Center. See how sap is gathered and boiled down into fresh maple syrup, with a sweet taste for all to enjoy. Don’t miss out on a weekend full of nature, discovery, and fun for the whole family! The Tenafly High School Marching Tigers are holding their first annual mattress fundraiser on Saturday, March 22 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the High School. Later this month, the Tenafly Police Department will be subject to an on-site assessment from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police. A team of assessors will examine all aspects of the Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services. As part of this final on-site assessment, members of the general public are invited to provide comments about these subjects to the assessment team. ACEing Autism returns this spring to the JCC for families with autism and volunteers alike. It is a wonderful way for high school teen volunteers to give back and engage in activity while providing hands-on basic skills, structure, socialization and most importantly, fun for participants. Experience a Jason Hart piano concert on Sunday, March 23 at 4:30 pm, at the Presbyterian Church. Come and hear Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin and 3 works by American composers in the genres of ragtime, spiritual, and boogie-woogie. All are welcome, free of charge.
