
Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Clifton Police Chief Thomas Rinaldi announce that on March 12, 2025, at approximately 11:39 a.m., the Clifton Police Department responded to the area of Getty Avenue and Crooks Avenue in Clifton, New Jersey on a report of a motor vehicle collision. Officers learned that a Chevy Trailblazer operated by a 35-year-old female from Madison, New Jersey was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a Honda Civic and a Dodge Ram Truck. As the Chevy Trailblazer continued down Getty Avenue, it also struck a Toyota Rav 4 and a Volkswagen Jetta. The driver of the Honda Civic, a 52-year-old male from Newton, New Jersey was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The surviving victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Despite initial information stating a pedestrian was killed, further investigation revealed no pedestrians were injured as a result of the motor vehicle collision.
The cause of the vehicle crash is undetermined at this time. This investigation is active and ongoing. More information will be released when it becomes available.
