Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of BRAYAN ESCOBAR, 18, of Fairview, NJ, on charges of distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck.
On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit identified BRAYAN ESCOBAR during the course of an Internet child sexual abuse material investigation. The investigation revealed that ESCOBAR used the Internet to view, download, possess, and distribute items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children.
As a result of the investigation, BRAYAN ESCOBAR was arrested on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, and charged with second-degree distribution of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(a)(i); and third-degree possession of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(b)(iii). ESCOBAR was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella thanks the Fairview Police Department for its assistance, as well as the Waldwick, Washington Township, and Woodcliff Lake Police Departments, which all participate in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
