
1. On February 27, 2025, at approximately 11:20 a.m., Police Officers Anthony Olivera and Elias Colon responded to the 50 block of Hudson Street on reports of a man wandering around the building. Police Officers Nasir Willey and Tyrone Huggins arrived to assist. The man, later identified as 34-year-old Stephon Kinchen of Newark, was found in the waiting area of a business on the fourth floor, where he was not welcome. Officers escorted Kinchen out of the building and it was discovered he was wanted on warrants out of Hoboken for shoplifting, smoking in public, and hindering apprehension. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing. It was learned he also had a warrant from Somerset County for failure to appear for sentencing. Kinchen was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
2. On February 27, 2025, at approximately 1:55 p.m., Police Officers Remy Garcia-Marte and Jennifer Lee responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of two shoplifters who were in custody of store security. Upon arrival they learned that two individuals, later identified as 66- year-old Aziz Boukhari of West New York and 62-year-old Rachida Loukili of West New York were seen putting items in a bag, covering the bag with a coat, and going through the check-out without scanning $143.86 worth of merchandise. Boukhari was also seen putting vitamins in his jeans pocket, which he did not pay for. Sgt. Jonathan Figueroa arrived on the scene to assist. Both Boukhari and Loukili were placed under arrest and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where they were charged with shoplifting. After being processed, both were released with a summons.
3. On February 27, 2025, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Police Officers Alexander Miller, Sheynna Vega, Bonanno, and John Rodriguez responded to the 300 block of Jefferson Street after Police Officer Anthony Olivera observed 44-year-old Damont Dyer of North Bergen who he knew had a warrant for his arrest from the New Jersey Transit Police Department (NJTPD), so he detained him. When the warrant was confirmed, Dyer was placed under arrest and transported to the NJPD processing room, located at Lackawanna Station in Hoboken, where he was released into the custody of NJTPD.
4. On February 28, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Police Officers Brandon Cappelluti, Valentino Salgado, Jaydan Gonzalez, Nicklas Valerius, Keven De La Cruz, and Brian Kim responded to Dunkin' Donuts, 400 Newark St., on reports of a man locking himself in the bathroom. Hudson County SWAT was called to assist. At approximately 3 a.m. HPD and SWAT were able to safely apprehend and arrest the individual, later identified as 30-year-old Floyd Gabreth of Hoboken. He was charged with multiple drug related offenses, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
5. On March 1, 2025, at approximately 6:40 p.m. Police Officers Aidan Gonzalez and John Rodriguez responded to Shoprite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifter who was in custody of store security guards. Sgt. Daniel Grossi also responded. An on-scene investigation revealed that the actor, later identified as 21-year-old Naeim Parker of Philadelphia, was seen by security take a “Smart Shopping Cart,” which requires shoppers to scan and weigh items as they shop, however, Parker did not scan all the items he placed into his cart. He tried to leave the store with a total of $192 items he didn’t pay for, before security stopped him at the exit. He was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was processed on charges of shoplifting. He was released on a summons.
6. On March 1, 2025, at approximately 1 a.m., Police Officers Zackary Guido and Leroy Sherill were conducting roving patrol in the area of Fifth and Jackson Streets when they observed someone get out of the passenger seat of a car, while it was still in motion. The driver, later identified as 30-year-old David Garboa of West New York, parked the car and started to get out. When officers told him to stay inside, he did not and got out. Officers observed him to have slurred speech and disheveled clothing. He was also stumbling. Officers Ronld Kibitlewski, John Rodriguez, Aidan Gonzales, Trevor Thomas, and Brian Kim arrived to assist. While speaking with Garboa, officers smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. He also had glassy eyes. A crushed beer can was found in the car, and it was also discovered a passenger door was not able to be properly secured and it was determined to be unsafe to drive. Police Officer Ricky Truppner arrived on the scene to conduct a standard field sobriety test, after which Garboa was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was ultimately transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to inspect, unsafe vehicle, driving with suspended license, unlicensed driver, and open alcoholic beverage container. As per John’s Law, Garboa was released into the custody of a responsible party.
7. On March 2, 2025, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Police Officers Alyssa Rivera and Roberto Cueavas responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting. Lt. Donald Rosso and Sgt. Jason Falco also responded. Store security stopped a man, later identified as 33-year-old Shadick Shamsuddin of West New York after he was seen trying to conceal groceries in a duffle bag before trying to leave. Shamsuddin was placed under arrest and a search incident to arrest located a glass cylindrical pipe burnt on both ends. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia. After being processed, Shamsuddin was released with a summons.
8. On March 3, 2025, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Police Officers Alexander Miller and Brian Kim responded to TD Bank, 47 Newark St., on reports of a man sleeping in the vestibule. When he was woken up, the man provided a false name but was later identified as 43-year-old Robert Hayward of Hoboken, and it was discovered he had warrants out of Springfield Township and Somerset County. A search incident to arrest located a small bag with a white powdery substance suspected to be CDS cocaine. He was charged with possession of CDS cocaine, hindering apprehension, possession of drug paraphernalia, and defiant trespassing. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
9. On March 4, 2025, at approximately 12 p.m., Police Officer Harry Montalvo was on patrol on the 200 block of Jackson Street when he saw a man he could identify as 40-year-old Daniel Brinkerhoff of North Bergen and knew he had an outstanding warrant from the Hudson County Sheriff's Office. Sgt. Adam Colon and Police Officers Remy Garcia-Marte and Matthew Bonanno arrived to assist. The warrant for possession of CDS was confirmed, and Brinkerhoff was placed under arrest. A search incident to arrest located a glass cylindrical pipe burnt on one side with what appeared to be residue inside along with wired mesh. He was transported to the Hoboken Police Department and further charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Center.
10. On March 5, 2025, at approximately 12:25 a.m., Police Officers Anish Bhisey and Jayden Gonzalez responded to reports of a dispute near the intersection of Newark and Hudson Streets. Sgt. Michael Straten and Sgt. Michael Losurdo arrived on the scene to assist. It was discovered one of the individuals involved, 35-year-old Wilmer Rivas of Union City, had a warrant out of Hoboken for fare evasion. He was issued a new court date and released from custody on the scene.
11. On March 5, 2025, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Police Officers Jayden Gonzalez and Ricky Truppner responded to the 300 block of Garden Street, where Sgt. Michael Losurdo and Sgt. Michael Straten had stopped an individual who had just left Hoboken University Medical Center, after attempting to fight with a security guard on staff. The man, later identified as 33-year-old Brandon Matthews of Jersey City, was placed under arrest and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. It was discovered he had three warrants for his arrest out of Hoboken, Jersey City, and Bergen County. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
