2/1/2025 10:34 PM, (DWI - Arrest)
A 911 caller reported a vehicle rollover on the Route 17 North exit ramp to Passaic Street. Patrol arrived on scene and found a female driver trapped in her Honda Civic. The fire department was dispatched for an extrication. The female, a 62-year-old from Bergenfield, was safely removed from the vehicle and displayed no signs of injury. The female did display signs of intoxication and subsequently failed field sobriety tests. The driver was arrested, charged with DWI, and released to a family member.
2/2/2025 11:37 AM, (Ordinance Violation)
A caller reported a Cedar Drive resident having construction performed on a Sunday. An officer responded and learned that the construction was due to an emergency roof leak. Discretion was utilized and the emergency repairs continued.
2/2/2025 4:11 PM (Juvenile Complaint)
A complainant reported juveniles playing on and around construction equipment at Carlock Field. Officers arrived on scene and performed a curbside warning to several juvenile residents.
2/3/2025 6:20 AM, (Burglary)
An Essex Street auto body shop reported an earlier dispute with a customer. The employee returned and found a rear door damaged. Officers recorded the damage and cleared from the scene. Approximately 3 hours later the suspect returned to retrieve his vehicle from the tow yard. Surveillance footage confirmed the male on scene, a 22-year-old from Brooklyn, was the suspect. He was arrested and charged with burglary and criminal mischief. He was released with a court date.
2/3/2025 11:19 AM, (Breach of Peace)
A caller reported he was overcharged by an Essex Street auto body shop. Patrol responded and found the recently released arrestee arguing with shop employees. An agreement was reached and the customer had a different tow company remove the vehicle.
2/3/2025 8:25 PM, (Commitment)
A caller from Howard Avenue reported her mother was intoxicated and breaking objects inside the house. Patrol arrived on scene and found a 71-year-old female resident sitting on the floor breaking a remote control in half. The female immediately became irate at the presence of police. Due to the high level of intoxication an ambulance was summoned. Once on a stretcher the female removed safety straps and attempted to run away. She was eventually subdued and transported to a medical facility.
2/4/2025 7:39 PM, (Shoplifting)
A Passaic Street supermarket reported a shoplifter in custody. A 30-year-old female from Teaneck was located in the LP office. The female was found to have attempted to walk out of the store with $433 worth of groceries. All items were recovered and the suspect was barred from the store. Civilian complaints to follow.
2/4/2025 7:57 PM, (Arrest - Adult)
A patrol officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on a BMW, the registration returned to a Chevrolet. An on-scene investigation revealed several credit cards in the names of other people and high-end footwear recently purchased from an area mall. A 39-year-old female from Reading, PA and a 32-year-old male from Philadelphia were arrested for receiving stolen property and credit card theft. A detective investigation revealed the two suspects committed a pick pocket offense on the same day as the stop. The shoes were purchased with credit cards stolen from an unsuspecting restaurant-goer. The female was released on a summons while the male suspect was committed to the Bergen County Jail.
2/6/2025 1:03 PM, (Aided)
An elderly caller reported someone took her shopping cart while shopping at a Passaic Street supermarket. The cart contained her keys and wallet. Officers arrived on scene and began to review surveillance footage. The surveillance revealed an unknown person took the cart (an apparent mistake), once they realized it was not theirs it was left at the self-checkout aisle. Officer located the cart and returned all items to the female complainant.
2/6/2025 4:36 PM, (Harassment)
A resident of Ward Street reported harassing and threatening text messages. The resident reported the caller was from an escort service and reportedly followed her home. The message was found to be part of an online/phone scam, all was is order.
2/7/2025 10:19 AM, (Shoplifting - Arrest)
An employee of a Rochelle Avenue pharmacy reported a male filled a bag with products and ran from the store. Responding officers learned that $240 in merchandise was stolen and the suspect fled in a 1960’s muscle car. A registration check revealed the vehicle was a 1969 Plymouth. A short time later a patrol Sergeant observed the vehicle near Essex Street. A 38-year-old male from Belleville was located in the vehicle and confirmed to be the actor. He initially provided a false name and was ultimately charged with hindering apprehension and shoplifting.
2/7/2025 8:54 PM, (Missing Person - Juvenile)
A 46-year-old female resident reported her special needs son walked away from a Passaic Street hotel. The child a 14-year-old male, left the hotel after his mother took away his cell phone. As Officers responded to headquarters to enter the child as a missing person, A Maywood Officer located him behind a nearby office building. Mother and son were reunited.
2/7/2025 10:45 PM, (Arrest - Adult)
A caller reported a large brawl in the street on Parkway. Patrol located a BMW occupied by 5 males. Inside the vehicle were open containers of cannabis and alcohol. A passenger, a 27-year-old male from Union City, was found to have a $3500 warrant from Riverdale. The driver was summoned for open containers and the passenger was arrested and turned over to Riverdale Police. No street brawl was located.
2/9/2025 4:105 AM, (Suspicious Person)
A caller from Susquehanna Avenue reported a male party wearing sweatpants and a hoodie, walking up and down the block. Officers located the male on Colling Avenue and approached him. The male stated he did not wish to speak with officers and walked away. Officers kept extra checks of the area.
2/9/2025 7:20 PM, (Breach of Peace)
Paramus Police reported a dispute at an Essex Street chicken wing restaurant. The complainant requested a refund and was unsatisfied that the request would take two days. Management stated they were overwhelmed with Super Bowl orders and this was the reason for the discrepancy. All in order.
2/10/2025 5:21 PM, (Aided)
A caller reported her medical scooter malfuncted and requires assistance getting home. An officer located the caller on Howard Avenue and found the scooter to have a dead battery. The officer pushed the resident in the scooter to her home and assisted her in entering the residence.
2/12/2025 7:43 AM, (Suspicious Occurrence)
A caller reported 2 males wearing hoodies forced entry to a Rochelle Avenue home. Patrol urgently responded and found the residents inside unharmed. It was learned that the caller provided the wrong street address. Officers responded to the correct address and again found the residents safely inside. All in order.
2/13/2025 10:23 AM, (Ordinance Violation)
An Officer located a Howard Avenue residence that he believed was operated as a short-term rental. Code enforcement was notified.
2/13/2025 11:36 AM, (Commitment – Unwanted Party)
A Passaic Street hotel reported an intoxicated male refusing to check out. Patrol responded to the third floor and located a highly intoxicated 42-year-old male from Teaneck. EMS was summoned and the party was committed due to a dangerous intoxication level.
2/13/2025 5:45 PM, (Breach of Peace)
A caller from a West Passaic Street hotel reported a domestic assault. Responding officers discovered the caller suffered from autism and was engaged in a dispute with his mother over chewing gum. The callers’ father separated mother and son for the day, all in order.
2/13/2025 6:08 PM, (Commercial Burglary)
A 911 caller reported a suicidal 84-year-old female. The resident of Berdan Street was reported to have knives. Patrol Officers safely met with the female and convinced her to be transported to a local hospital.
2/13/2025 11:34 PM, (DWI - Arrest)
A patrol officer observed a vehicle commit several violations on Passaic Street. A motor vehicle stop ensued and the driver was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. After failed field sobriety tests, the driver, a 65-year-old female from Teaneck, was arrested. While submitting to alcohol breath tests the arrestee made suicidal comments. Several summonses were issued and the female was committed to a local facility.
2/14/2025 4:14 PM, (Road Rage - Juvenile)
A caller reported the occupants of another vehicle displayed a firearm during a road rage incident on Rochelle Avenue. The vehicle was located and the weapon in question was found to be a cigarette lighter. The two 17-year-old juveniles from Paramus were entered into a Stationhouse Adjustment program.
2/14/2025 6:06 PM, (Commitment)
A caller from a West Passaic Street hotel reported a 58-year-old male from South Hackensack was undergoing alcohol detox. Patrol Officers were met by a disgruntled patient who resisted police contact. An ambulance was requested and transported the male.
In addition, (7) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (159) motor vehicle stops were conducted in a 14-day span.
