Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

Congratulations to Sam Williams, a lifelong Tenafly resident and student who this spring signed with major league soccer’s Chicago Fire FC, and is now a professional soccer player. This achievement reflects the strength of character and perseverance that define Tenafly.

Girl Scout Cookie season is here! Support Tenafly Girl Scouts by purchasing your favorite cookies. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to a local charitable initiative. The Girl Scouts will be at Huyler Park this Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, and this Sunday from Noon to 2:00 pm (or while supplies last!) Stock up on delicious cookies and support a great cause. This weekend at the Nature Center, join in for two exciting events! Saturday, March 29, from 11 am to 12 pm, it is the *Endangered NJ* program, hosted at the Senior Center, for Seniors, exploring the threats to New Jersey’s endangered species through live animals, artifacts, and interactive activities. It is a great chance to learn, connect, and socialize. The cost is $5.00 per person, and there's no need to register—just come on by!

Then, on Sunday, March 30, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, kick off Spring with the Lost Brook Trail Run. This 5K/10K course through the Lost Brook Preserve is perfect for trail runners, hikers, and walkers alike. Grammy nominee Richard Baratta and his Latin Jazz Quartet will be performing at the Tenafly Public Library on Sunday, April 6 at 2:00 pm. This is a concert you won’t want to miss. For young and old and all in between.

Tenafly Public Schools: Registration will open on Tuesday, April 1st (at 9 am) for the Summer Enrichment Program. This year’s program will run from Monday, June 23 through Friday, July 18 (closed July 4) at Mackay Elementary School (111 Jefferson Ave.). The Presbyterian Church is opening their doors to the world with an invitation to take part in a community choir and orchestra project this spring. Rehearsals will be Tuesday evenings starting April 1, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Concert date is June 1st.

Tenafly is hosting its annual town-wide Thrash-a-Thon. Please join us on Sunday, April 27 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm for this important event. The Nature Center, the Environmental Commission, Green Team, and the High School Green Team, welcome everyone to attend as we clean up our community and raise donations for the Nature Center.
