1. On March 13, 2025, at approximately 2:50 a.m., Police Officers Carmen Benitez and Brandon Cappelluti were conducting a routine detail check at Blue Foundry Bank, 334 Washington St., when they observed a man, later identified as 33-year-old Deshawn Smith of Hoboken, sleeping in the vestibule. He was given a summons for trespassing, told not to return to the vestibule, and released.
2. On March 13, 2025, at approximatley10:50 a.m., Sgt. Det. William Collins and Detectives Connor Milne and Fabian Quinones arrested 43-year-old Matthew Seriale of Hoboken, who was wanted for an incident the day before, where Police Officers Leroy Sherrill and Dylan Archilla responded to the 100 block of Clinton Street on reports of a person threatening a bus driver with a hammer. An on-scene investigation revealed someone, identified as Seriale, was double parked on Clinton Street between First and Second Streets. When an NJ Transit bus tried to pass his vehicle, Seriale grabbed a hammer from his car, walked toward the front door of the bus, and waved the hammer at the bus driver while threatening to strike the driver in the head with the hammer. Seriale was charged on a warrant with making terroristic threats, aggravated assault on a motorbus driver, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and certain persons not to possess a weapon. After confirming the warrant, a search incident to arrest was conducted and Detectives located two small plastic bags tied off in a knot, containing a white rock-like substance suspected to be CDS crack cocaine. Seriale was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was additionally charged with possession of CDS. He was processed on all charges and ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
3. On March 13, 2025, at approximately 11:15 a.m., Police Officers Daniel Barron and Nasir Willey responded to Shoprite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting. Sgt. Adam Colon responded as well. An on-scene investigation revealed the actor, later identified as 27-year-old Robin Romei of Jersey City, was seen placing items into a duffle bag, and into his pockets, and tried to leave without paying. Store security stopped him at the exit and detained him until police officers arrived. Romei was arrested for shoplifting and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. After being processed, he was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
4. On March 13, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Police Officers Jessica Pizanie and Anthony Olivera responded to the 300 block of Harrison Street on reports of a domestic dispute, involving the theft of a gun. An on-scene investigation revealed two men, later identified as 27-year-old Dante Walker of Hoboken and 31-year-old Andrew Mullins of Hoboken, got into a physical altercation inside a residential apartment, during which Walker was knocked unconscious. When he woke up, Walker threatened to shoot Mullins. Mullins then took a gun lock box belonging to Walker, which Walker said contained two handguns, magazines, and ammunition. Mullins left the apartment with the lock box and weapons. Lt. Christopher Labruno, Sgt. Wilfredo Gomez, Sgt. Roary Miller, Sgt. William Collins, and Police Officers Daniel Barron, Nathaniel Arocho, Jennifer Lee, Geovanni Cruzado, and Nasir Willey arrived on the scene to assist. At this point, Mullins was reported "armed and dangerous,” and officers began to search for him using shields for protection. He was observed in a stairwell, through a window, and ordered to come out of the building with his hands raised, which he did. He was arrested. The lock box was located unopened in another area of the building. When officers eventually opened it, they found one of the firearms did not have a visible serial number and was discovered to be a large capacity magazine. Walker was placed under arrest. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Mullins was charged with robbery, aggravated assault with attempt to cause significant bodily injury, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of weapon, certain persons not to possess weapons, prohibited weapons and devices/defaced firearms, and prohibited weapons and devices/large capacity magazine. Walker was charged with making terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of weapon, prohibited weapons and devices/defaced firearms, and prohibited weapons and devices/large capacity magazine. Walker and Mullins were ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
5. On March 13, 2025, at approximately 5:05 p.m., Sgt. Harold Milne and Police Officers David Smentkowski, Mario Rodriguez, Vincent Guastini, Stephen Chowanec, Ahmed Makshat, and Donovan Ortiz stopped a bicyclist near the intersection of Fourth Street and Washington Street for failure to yeild at a red light. The operator, later identified as 36-year-old Eric Delacruz of Jersey City, first told officers he did not have identification, but eventually gave it to them. It was discovered Delacruz had a warrant out of Hoboken for harassment. He was placed under arrest and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was issued a summons for failure to stop at a red light. After posting bond on the warrant, he was released from custody.
6. On March 14, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Police Officers Trevor Thomas and Valentino Salgado were conducting a sweep of a Hoboken Housing Authority building on the 600 block of Sixth Street when they located two men, identified as 44-year-old Damon Dyer of North Bergen and 46-year-old Obdulio Ocasio of Jersey City, in the first-floor hallway. Neither provided a legitimate reason for being in the building, and they were arrested for defiant trespassing. A search incident to arrest of Dyer revealed two glass cylindrical pipes with copper mesh inside, a ball of copper mesh, and a push rod. A search of Ocasio located two metal push rods. Both were additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing. It was discovered Ocasio had a warrant out of Hoboken. Both Dyer and Ocasio were ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
7. On March 14, 2025, at approximately 10:40 a.m., Police Officer Nasir Willey responded to Hoboken Police Headquarters to process the arrest of 30-year-old Jesus Ortega of Hoboken, who was brought in by Port Authority Police. He had an open warrant out of Hoboken for failure to appear for disorderly conduct in 2023. After being processed, Ortega was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
8. On March 14, 2025, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Police Officers John Lawton and Michael Chen were on patrol when they saw a man lying face down on the sidewalk near the intersection of Third and Jackson Streets. The man was unconscious but moved to the side, and officers could see he was laying on top of a wax fold containing suspected CDS heroin. The Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps arrived on the scene to treat the man, later identified as 58-year-old Joseph Cooper of Jersey City, and administered Narcan. Sgt. Daniel Grossi and Sgt. Roary Miller arrived on the scene to assist. A search of Cooper’s backpack located a glass cylindrical pipe with burnt ends on both sides, one metal push rod, one wooden push rod, copper wire, nine wax folds with suspected CDS heroin, two other wax folds, a credit card, debit card, and driver's license, all of which belonging to other people, and two knives. Cooper was arrested for credit cards for unlawful use. It was discovered he had a warrant out of Hudson County, and one out of Hoboken for bail jumping on a defiant trespassing charge. Based on a prior criminal conviction, he was found to be a certain person not to have weapons, and he was additionally charged with certain persons not to have weapons or ammunition. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
9. On March 15, 2025, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Police Officers Trevor Thomas and Jaydan Gonzalez responded to reports of a fight in progress near the intersection of Second and Washington Streets. An on-scene investigation revealed during the fight, one woman, later identified as 21-year-old Juliana Amato of Lyndhurst, pushed another person into a fence causing a deep laceration to her forehead and rendering her unconscious. The Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps (HVAC) responded and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment. Amato was placed under arrest for aggravated assault. She was processed and released with a summons.
10. On March 15, 2025, at approximately 8:35 a.m., Police Officers Ahmed Makshat, Stephen Chowanec, and Donovan Ortiz conducted a random plate inquiry of a parked motorized scooter, also known as a moped, and it was learned the license plate on the vehicle was stolen. The scooter was stopped by Police Officer Anthony Olivera at Second and Garden Streets. Police Officers Joseph DiMartino, Nasir Willey, and Tyrone Huggins arrived on the scene to assist. The rider, identified as 27-year-old Sidibe Boubacar of New York City, was arrested for receiving stolen property and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. He was also issued tickets for failure to exhibit documents, fictitious plates, unregistered vehicle, and failure to wear a high visibility bib. After being processed, he was released with a summons
11. On March 16, 2025, at approximately 3:45 a.m., Police Officer Jaydan Gonzalez was flagged down by employees of Johnny Rockets, 134 Washington St., who reported a customer tried to flee after refusing to pay for his meal. The actor, later identified as 36-year-old Mike Jean-Baptiste of Vauxhall, was still on the scene. Sgt. Roary Miller, Sgt. Michael Losurdo, and Police Officers Michael Aviles and Brandon Cappelluti arrived on the scene to assist. Employees of the establishment did not want to file a complaint, but it was discovered Jean-Baptiste was wanted on a warrant with New Jersey Transit Police for burglary and one out of Newark for shoplifting. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing and ultimately, taken to New Jersey Transit Police headquarters for processing on that warrant.
12. On March 17, 2025, at approximately 5:10 a.m., Police Officers Michael Aviles and Sheynna Vega responded to the Ninth Street Light Rail Station on reports of a man screaming and yelling on the platform for over 30 minutes. Sgt. Adam Colon also responded and located the man sitting on the platform. Police Officer Fank Losurdo arrived on the scene to assist. Officers observed a small glass pipe with a burnt end and a lighter in his hand. The man later identified as 42-year-old Julio Ortiz of was placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to an area hospital by the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps (HVAC). A search incident to arrest located three glass tubes commonly used to smoke CDS, and three metal sticks commonly used as push rods when consuming CDS. It was discovered Ortiz had a warrant out of Union City for possession of CDS with intent to use. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correction Facility.
13. On March 17, 2025, at approximately 9:50 a.m., Police Officers Marco Grossman and Joseph DiMartino responded to McDonald's, 234 Washington St., to back-up Sgt. James Barbro who had been stopped by staff regarding a patron who refused to leave the establishment. The individual, later identified as 25-year-old Shreesh Pun of Hoboken, was told by officers he was no longer allowed in the store. Pun began to yell at officers and was told if he continued to do so, he would be arrested for disorderly conduct. He disregarded their orders to stop, and he was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct. During transport to Hoboken Police Headquarters, Pun kicked and spit on the door of the car. After being processed, he was released with a summons.
14. On March 17, 2025, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Police Officer Marco Grossman responded to Walgreens, 1300 Willow Ave., on reports of a shoplifting involving two actors who had left the scene. An on-scene investigation revealed two men had walked in with no bags but left a few minutes later carrying a red bag and blue bag. Sgt. Adam Colon and Police Officer Teddy Santiago stopped a man who fit the description of one of the actors on the 900 block of Madison Street. Sgt. James Barbro and Police Officer Jonathan Figueroa stopped a second individual who matched the description of the other actor, near the intersection of Monroe and 10th Streets. An on-scene investigation confirmed the two individuals, later identified as 34-year-old Kenneth Parra of Bayonne and 56-year-old Andrew Coclough of Jersey City were the actors in the shoplifting. A search incident to arrest of Parra, discovered a white powdery substance believed to be CDS cocaine. They were transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. Parra was charged with shoplifting, conspiracy to commit shoplifting, possession of CDS, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Coclough was charged with shoplifting, conspiracy to commit shoplifting, and possession of drug paraphernalia. After processing, both were transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
15. On March 18, 2025, at approximately 12:15 a.m. Police Officers David Chicara and Michael Aviles responded to Hoboken Police Headquarters to process the arrest of 31-year-old John Azer of Jersey City, who was transported to HPD by Port Authority Police Officers. After being processed on a warrant for aggravated assault in Hoboken, Azer was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
16. On March 18, 2025, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Police Officers Aidan Gonzalez and Michael Chen responded to 7-Eleven, 422 Washington St., on reports of a shoplifting. Upon arrival, officers observed a woman, identified as 55-year-old Ivecka Leonard of North Arlington, who fit the description of the actor in front of the store. An on-scene investigation confirmed Leonard as the actor. She was placed under arrest for shoplifting, transported to the Hoboken Police Department and processed. She was released with a summons.
17. On March 18, 2025, at approximately 6:10 p.m., Police Officers Bianca Arroyo, Shawn Sodora, and Tyrone Huggins to the 50 block of Washington Street on reports of a child being struck by a stranger. An on-scene investigation revealed no one was hurt and no complaints were filed by the guardian, but the other adult involved, later identified as 66-year-old Ronald Crawford, was found to have a warrant out of Hoboken for shoplifting. He was arrested, given a new court date, and released from custody.
18. On March 19, 2025, at approximately 2:05 p.m., Det. Sgt. William Collins, Det. Connor Milne, Det. Fabian Quinones, and Police Officer Anthony Azzoline responded to a residence in Jersey City to arrest 46-year-old Miguel Reyes of Jersey City who was wanted for theft and fraudulent use of credit cards in connection to reports of a credit card stolen at The Ferryman Hoboken, 94 Bloomfield St., on Feb. 16, 2025. The card was used shortly after it was discovered missing, to purchase approximately $350 of merchandise. A follow-up investigation led by Police Officer Ray Calderon identified Reyes as the actor, and discovered he stole the credit card while working as a bartender at The Ferryman. On March 19, Reyes was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and processed on theft and fraud charges. It was discovered he had another warrant out of Hoboken for evading payment of a prescribed fare, and one out of Union City. He was given new court dates for the two warrants and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility for the theft and fraud charges.
19. On March 19, 2025, at approximately 5:50 p.m., Sgt. William Collins was on the 200 block of Harrison Street when he saw a man in a Hoboken Housing Authority (HHA) parking lot, who appeared to be nervous. A witness gestured toward the Sergeant, indicating something inappropriate was going on. Sgt. Collins approached the individual and observed he was holding a glass pipe burnt at one end. The man, later identified as 22-year-old Henry Contreras of West New York, was placed under arrest. Police Officer Nasir Willey arrived on the scene to assist. A search incident to arrest located wire mesh. Contreras was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, and it was discovered he had an active warrant for his arrest from the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office. He was processed and charged with defiant trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
20. On March 19, 2025, at approximately 6:20 p.m., Police Officers Nasir Willey and Shawn Sodora responded to the 900 block of Willow Avenue on reports of a woman urinating in public. Officers located a woman who fit the description, in a vestibule area of a residential building where she did not live. Officers recognized the individual and identified her as 55-year-old Iveka Leonard of Hoboken. She was issued a summons for criminal trespassing and transported to a local hospital.
21. On March 19, 2025, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Police Officers Aidan Gonzalez and Michael Chen responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifter who was in custody of store security. An on-scene investigation revealed the actor, later identified as 48- year-old Miriam Intriago of Hoboken, was seen paying for two items in her cart, but trying to leave without paying for about $70 worth of other merchandise. Intriago was placed under arrest for shoplifting and was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. During processing Intriago provided a false name and personal information at first. She was further charged with hindering. She was ultimately released with a summons.
22. On March 19, 2025, at approximately 10 p.m., Police Officers Donovan Ortiz and David Smentkowski observed a vehicle in the intersection of 12th Street & Willow Avenue with no working headlights. An on-scene investigation revealed the plates were fictitious and the owners license had been suspended. The officers pulled the vehicle over on the 700 block of Grand Street. The driver, later identified as 50-year-old Stacey Banks of Union City, was unable to provide valid registration or proof of insurance, and her license was suspended. She was found to have a warrant out of Jersey City. She was given a new court date on the warrant. She was issued summonses for fictitious plates, driving without a license, driving without registration, and improper maintenance of lamps. She was released from custody with a summons.
