Cliffside Park Woman Arrested for Assaulting a Child

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 24-year-old CEILY C. SUNUN-MIRANDA of Cliffside Park, NJ on charges of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Cliffside Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Yakup Zoklu.

On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged physical abuse of a juvenile. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Cliffside Park Police Department revealed that CEILY C. SUNUN-MIRANDA physically assaulted a child in Cliffside Park on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

As a result of the investigation, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, CEILY C. SUNUN-MIRANDA was arrested in Paramus, NJ and charged with second-degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1), and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(2). SUNUN-MIRANDA was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Cliffside Park Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
