It should be well understood that information posted or shared through social media may not always be factual. Speculation and rumors may be amplified by virtue of the digital platform upon which they circulate. In such instances, information that is not factual can spread faster than the facts. For clarity, the facts as determined by the investigation and as previously reported are as follows:
On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Fort Lee Police responded to a stabbing inside Fort Lee High School. A male juvenile student was discovered to have been stabbed multiple times in a school restroom following an altercation with a 16-year-old fellow student. Prompt medical attention was provided by first responders and school personnel, and the victim was quickly transported to an area hospital in critical but stable condition. It should be noted that while the victim remains hospitalized, his condition is now stable. A thorough investigation was conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Fort Lee Police Department, under the direction of Chief Matthew Hintze. Based on the results of the investigation, the suspect was identified, and charges were filed in this matter on the evening of April 8, 2025. As a juvenile incident, no additional details may be released.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges brought in every matter are merely accusations, and that a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Once again, Prosecutor Musella would like to thank the Fort Lee Police Department for their assistance with this investigation, as well as the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, Englewood Cliffs Police Department, Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department, and Port Authority Police Department for their mutual-aid response and assistance. Lastly, Prosecutor Musella thanks Fort Lee Public Schools Superintendent Robert Kravitz, Ed.D. and the Fort Lee High School administration for their continued cooperation.
