Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

The new Grove Street Park at 147 Grove Street is now open. The park features two dog park areas for small and large dogs, a skate park, and soon to be available pollinator gardens. The official ribbon cutting is Tuesday, April 22 at 6:30 pm. A tremendous thank you to all the Borough employees, vendors, volunteers, and residents who have made this park possible.

Get ready for an adventure-filled weekend at the Nature Center! Today, Friday, April 18 at 7:00 pm, all scouts are invited to the Scout Sunset Hike and Campfire, where you'll ditch the flashlights, explore the woods by night, and bond around the campfire. On Saturday, April 19, join the Extraordinary Egg Hunt at 10:00 am, 11:30 am, 1:00 pm, or 2:30 pm, where children will hunt for naturally dyed eggs in the forest and enjoy fun egg-citing activities. Please don’t forget those with food insecurity in our communities. Consider donating some of your unopened and unexpired food or toiletries. Place donations in a bag and drop off at the Tenafly Rotary Club’s food collection box, located between Stop & Shop and Celebrity Bagels. Our Rotarians collect and deliver all unopened and unexpired donations to local food banks.If you are interested in learning more about Rotary or contributing to their support of local needs, they meet at TPR most Thursdays at Noon. On Wednesday, April 23, The Tenafly Welcome! committee, the Tenafly Fire Department and the Tenafly Volunteer Ambulance Corps are inviting new residents and their children who moved into town from October 2024 to the present date to attend a private event at the Tenafly Firehouse and the Tenafly Volunteer Ambulance Corps from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. A light dinner of pizza will be served. Postcard invitations have been sent. We look forward to meeting and welcoming our newest Tenafly Residents.Rain date is April 24.

Tenafly is hosting its annual town-wide Thrash-a-Thon. Please join us on Sunday, April 27 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm for this important event. The Nature Center, the Environmental Commission, Green Team, and the High School Green Team, welcome everyone to attend as we clean up our community and raise donations for the Nature Center. Volunteer to participate individually or as a family in collecting litter or pledge to sponsor a volunteer. The Garden Club’s Annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale is Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm rain or shine at two locations: the Greenhouse at Davis Johnson Park and Oresko Memorial Green (opposite the Post Office). The sale includes flowering annuals in pots of varying sizes, hanging baskets, patio planters and flats, quality plants at competitive prices!

The Presbyterian Church and the director of music, Jim Millar are opening their doors with an invitation to take part in a community choir and orchestra project this spring. Rehearsals will be Tuesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on April 22, May 6, 13, 20, 27. As we think of Edan Alexander and his family this season, I do hope for all those celebrating, that you are having peaceful Passover and Easter celebrations, and that Edan will be home with his family soon.
