Hoboken Police Arrest Blotter 6/22/23 - 6/28/23

1. On June 22nd, 2023, at approximately 4:12 p.m., Police Officers Andrias Bonilla and Mark Mooreman responded to Shoprite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting, during which store security stopped a man later identified as 23-yearold Jiale Wang of Hoboken. An investigation revealed Wang attempted to leave the store with 32 unpaid items worth a total of $221.99. Wang was arrested, transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, issued a summons for shoplifting, and released.

2. On June 22, 2023, at approximately 7:35 p.m. Detectives Fabian Quinones and Connor Milne and Det. Sgt. William Collins arrested 34-year-old Felix Dilone of Hoboken on warrants for theft and burglary out of Hoboken and Union City. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and then taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

3. On June 23, 2023, at approximately 8:39 a.m., Police Officers Rose Kanan and James Barbaro responded to the 200 block of Hudson Street on a report of a package theft. While heading to that location, Police Officer Samuel Flores observed a male matching the suspect’s description near the intersection of Third and Bloomfield Streets. Investigation revealed that the suspect, later identified as 75-year-old Ricardo Ramirez of Union City, entered the vestibule of the building, took a package that did not belong to him and left. He was arrested and charged with theft and burglary. He was found to have three warrants out of Hoboken for theft, burglary, and failure to appear. Detectives Nicholas Losurdo, Fabian Quinones, John Quinones, and Detective Sgt. William Collins also assisted in this investigation and arrest.

4. On June 24, 2023, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Police Officers Matthew Bonanno and Remy Garcia-Marte were patrolling the area of Third and Jackson Streets when they observed a car driving with an expired temporary license plate. They conducted a motor vehicle stop and the driver, identified as 36-year-old Dante Perkins of Newark, could not produce a valid driver's license. It was also revealed that the license place was fake. Sgt. Luke Zeszotarski arrived on scene to assist. Perkins was found to have multiple warrants from Jersey City for simple assault and obstruction. He also had a warrant on a traffic summons from Burlington Township. He was issued numerous motor vehicle summonses in Hoboken and transported to Jersey City for processing of his warrants there.

5. On June 25, 2023, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Police Officers Harold Milne, Mark Mooreman, James Barbro, Jessica Pizanie, Frank Lombardo, and Arturo Gonzalez responded to a building on Monroe Street on reports of an attempted package theft where the suspect was run off by the resident who provided a description. Sgt. Dennis Figuero and Police Officers Mooreman, Roberto Cuevas, and Harold Milne located and stopped a man who fit that description, later identified as 42-year-old Marcus Morales of Jersey City. A search incident to arrest found a cylindrical glass pipe burnt at one end with copper mesh, commonly referred to as a "Crack Pipe.” He was processed and charged with theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also found to have an open warrant out of Union City. He was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

6. On June 26, 2023, at approximately 4:25 p.m., Police Officers Anthony Azzoline and Matthew Bonanno responded to Police Headquarters to process the arrest of 18-year-old Justin Villafane of Hoboken who turned himself in on prior warrants in connection to the theft at Losurdo Bros/Tony’s Italian Deli, 410 Second St., on June 1, 2023, during which a suspect, identified as Villafane, ordered three sandwiches, worth a total of $50, and left without paying. He also took the tip jar containing approximately $200. Police Officers Roberto Cuevas and David Chicara took that initial report. A follow-up investigation by Det. Sgt. William Collins and Det. Fabian Quinones resulted in a complaint summons against Villafane. When he turned himself in, he was processed on charges of theft of movable property and theft of services and released on a summons.

7. On June 26, 2023, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Police Officers Mark Mooreman, Harold Milne, and Ricky Truppner responded to Church Square Park, 400 Garden St., on reports of a male exposing himself in public. They observed a man, later identified as 42-year-old Damont Dyer of North Bergen, who fit the description given by a caller. Dyer was also found to have a warrant for failure to appear on an assault charge in Jersey City. Damont was transported to Police Headquarters, charged with public urination, and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

8. On June 27, 2023, at approximately 4:50 p.m. Police Officers Harry Montalvo and Rose Kanan responded to the Hoboken University Medical Center, 308 Willow Ave., on a report of a patient refusing to leave. Officers recognized the patient, identified as 31-year-old Glendell Murray of Hoboken, as someone wanted by the Port Authority Police Department in connection to an incident at the Hoboken Path Station on May 17, 2023. A second outstanding warrant was found out of the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office. Murray was placed under arrest, transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing, and then turned over to Port Authority Police.

9. On June 28, 2023, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Police Officers Jessica Arebalo and Mark Lombardi responded to Police Headquarters to process the arrest of 20- year-old Karen DeJesus of Newark who was brought in by New Jersey State Police Troopers. DeJesus was wanted on a warrant issued on June 1, 2023, for trespassing. She was processed and remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

10. On June 28, 2023, at approximately 10:40 p.m., Police Officers Rose Kanan, Geovanni Cruzado, and Brandon Fitzgibbons responded to the intersection of Fourth Street and Willow Avenue on reports of an emotionally disturbed male standing in the middle of the street. The man, later identified as 28-year-old Jesus Ortega of California, jumped in front of a patrol car as it arrived and began yelling about locating his glasses, which he claimed were inside Hoboken University Medical Center (HUMC). Officers observed him go inside HUMC and then jump behind a reception desk, before quickly exiting the building. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation by speaking with Ortega and trying to help locate his glasses, but Ortega jumped onto the roof of a parked car. Police Officers Samuel Flores and Domenick Allegretta arrived to assist. When Ortega jumped down from the car, he became combative, threw himself on the ground and held his arms against his body in an attempt to resist arrest. Officers were able to gain control and place Ortega under arrest. He was transported to Police Headquarters, charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, and released on a summons. A use of force report was completed.
