Hoboken Police Arrest Blotter 3/30/23 - 4/05/23

1. On March 31, 2023, around 2:20 a.m. Police Officers Nicholas Protopapadakis and Frank Lombardo responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident in the area of 103 Ninth St., in which a gray Jeep Compass had crashed into several parked cars. When officers arrived on the scene, a witness who had taken the keys away from the driver, told them the driver, later identified as 30-year-old Alejandro Montero of Cliffside Park, had started walking away. Montero continued to walk away, despite the officer's verbal commands to stop. When they caught up to him, officers placed Montero under arrest and requested standardized field sobriety tests. Following the results of those tests, Montero was charged with driving while intoxicated and transported to police headquarters where he was also charged with resisting arrest, obstruction of the administration of law (a disorderly person's offense), refusal to submit a breath test, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident. As per John’s Law, he was released into the custody of a responsible party.

2. On April 1, 2023, at about 9:15 p.m. Police Officer Arturo Gonzalez was on patrol near 512 Observer Hwy. and observed a silver Toyota Camry being operated with the headlights off. He pulled the car over near 67 Madison St. and identified the driver as 49-year-old Marie Viaud of Hoboken, who admitted her driver's license was suspended. She was also found to have an open active warrant out of Jersey City. She was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and released with a new court date on the Jersey City warrant.

3. On April 2, 2023, just before 9:30 p.m. Police Officer Brandon Fitzgibbons responded to the area of Eighth Street and Willow Avenue on reports of a motor vehicle accident. Upon his arrival, Officer Fitzgibbons found a white Lexus had crashed into two other legally parked vehicles. The driver of the Lexus, 41-year-old Matthew Seriale of Hoboken, was still at the scene and given a series of field sobriety tests during which he had a tough time standing up and at times, became uncooperative. Seriale was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. During a search incident to arrest, he was found to have a variety of drug paraphernalia, along with multiple jars and wax folds containing suspected CDS, including heroin, cocaine, and prescription drugs. More of the same was found in his vehicle. Seriale was taken to Hoboken Police Headquarters, where he became irate, threatened to do physical harm to officers, and attempted to hit one officer with his belt and kicked another in the ankle area. Seriale was also charged with two counts of aggravated assault, seven counts of possession of CDS, possession of prescription drugs, reckless driving, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, tampering with evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving an unregistered vehicle. He was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

4. On April 2, 2023, at approximately 7:20 p.m. Officers Christopher Barral and John Cirillo took 49-year-old Timothy Bracero of Jersey City into custody at Hoboken Police Headquarters, after officers from West New York brought him in on two outstanding warrants issued on March 7, 2023, out of Hoboken. Bracero was charged with two counts of bail jumping and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance.

5. On April 3, 2023, at about 1:30 a.m., Police Officer Anthony Rutkowski observed a black sedan with its left turn signal on waiting in the left turn only lane at the intersection of 12th Street and Willow Avenue. When the light turned green, the sedan drove straight, and the turn signal remained activated. Officer Rutkowski noticed the vehicle continue to drive erratically and at one point turned right on red, despite a visible “No Turn on Red” sign posted. The car was pulled over and the driver, 27-year-old Juan Romero of North Bergen, was given a series of field sobriety tests after which he was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to police headquarters where he was also charged with reckless driving, turning right on no right turn, and refusal to submit a breath sample. As per John’s Law, he was released into the custody of a responsible party.

6. On April 4, 2023, at approximately 4:54 p.m., 57-year-old Abdul Ali of Jersey City was arrested in the area of 135 Washington St. on an active warrant. Ali had been wanted for shoplifting a pack of cigarettes from Super Foods located at 401 Jackson St. on March 18, 2023. On April 4, following an investigation of the initial shoplifting report, Detectives Connor Milne and Fabian Quinones recognized the suspect and arrested him for shoplifting. During a search incident to arrest, Ali was found to have drug paraphernalia. In his bag, officers also found a plastic bag with a white rock-like substance suspected to be CDS cocaine. Ali was transported to police headquarters and further charged with a non-apprehension warrant, possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, and for being a fugitive from justice. He was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

7. On April 4, 2023, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Hoboken Police arrested 29-year-old Derrick Delacruz of Hoboken in the area of 320 Marshall Dr. Delacruz was wanted in connection to a robbery that occurred on March 26, 2023, in the same area. On that date, at 3:15 a.m. Officers Jessica Pizanie and Remy Garcia-Marte responded to a man yelling for help. The victim had been punched by the suspect and robbed of five dollars. On March 29, 2023, Officer Chelsea Tamborra was assigned to conduct a follow-up investigation. Using previous reports, witness descriptions, and surveillance footage she identified the suspect as Delacruz. A warrant was generated, charging him with robbery and endangering an injured victim. On April 4, Delacruz was spotted, arrested, and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he was processed and remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

8. On April 4, 2023, just after 6 p.m. Police Officers Paul Quinn and Nicholas Losurdo were flagged down near the area of 714 Jefferson St., on reports of a fight in progress at the intersection of Eighth and Jefferson Streets. Officers learned from gathering evidence and talking to witnesses that 55-year-old Oguz Kimil of Lyndhurst had struck another person with a sign, used for advertising, multiple times. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. Kimil was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, served a complaint summons, and released.

9. On April 5, 2023, 25-year-old Kayla Moreno of Jersey City was brought to Hoboken Police Headquarters at 106 Hudson St.by Union City Police Officers. She was wanted on a warrant for shoplifting on August 20, 2022, at Walgreens, 101-105 Washington St. Moreno was processed on that warrant and charged with bail jumping. She was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
